I read this same thing and had the same concerns. From the sounds of that statement, I would assume Madera Canyon is closed to all weapons, which means no hunting in the canyon. It's kind of a weird way to word it though. "In other words the Madera Canyon area to within 1/4 mile of the closure area is illegal to hunt in"

Starting with the newer (non-HD) SLC with the darker green armor, they started adding the Swarobright and Swaroclean coating.

Deer of the Southwest by Jim Heffelfinger

I went and picked up my trail cam I put up in August. I had to fight the snow on my 1.5 mile journey into the wilderness, but the camera was still there and had over 1200 pictures on it (all had animals). I feel like it's a good start, but now I'm hooked. I had some pictures with over 5 bulls at once. Some pictures I counted a total of over 20 elk in the shot. They literally hit this spot every day since I set up the camera and salt in mid August. Hope you enjoy.

Now that's a trophy! Seriously. I doubt he will ever get a smaller buck. I agree with the others, Euro mount!

I've got the HHA Optimizer Lite and like it a lot. I haven't used it in a hunting situation yet, but have wondered the same thing. I'll probably set it at 40 yards.

I've always wondered how you go about hunting in there. Do you have to check in at the main gate and let them know you'll be hunting?

I'm thinking about selling my Bushnell Chuck Adams rangefinder and upgrading to a better longer range range finder. I was eyeballing the new Bushnell DX Scout. Has great reviews and ranges out to 1300 yards. Anybody have some recommendations? I'm not looking to spend Swarovski type money. Maybe up to $400.
