How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
kazpilot25 replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
1 Mule deer, 1 javelina, countless quail and dove in 4 years of hunting. Looking to add a Turkey and Elk this year with any luck. -
Those calls are beautiful! Good luck on the competition. I can't wait to get my call!
-
Mine is the 10x14'. No I didn't have it setup in 24b. I set it up in my backyard. ha.
-
I'd say 3 and still have plenty of room for gear and other stuff. It's really pretty big inside. You could fit 4 but it might get cramped. I got the slumberjack big cots so I can store my gear under the cot, they're great!

I set it up for the first time over the weekend and it is pretty simple. Basically you stake it down, put the 3 poles together and voila. I think the hardest part is setting up the front "porch". Ha.

I asked game and fish and they said you get the bonus point on your fifth year, not the sixth year. So yes, it will apply this draw.

I have a pair of Swarovski 10x42 SLC WB Habicht (non-HD) with the upgraded winged eyecups I am looking to sell. They are in perfect condition (glass and armor). They have been meticulously cared for and come with original box, strap, and a swarovski bino harness. These are the version with SWARODUR, SWAROTOP and SWAROBRIGHT coatings. $1000 OBO -
How much ventilation do you guys allow when you run your heaters in there? I've been thinking about the same setup with the big buddy and 5 gallon tank.

$1000 OBO. Somebody needs these. -
Well I got off work early and decided to finally check out outdoorsmans and pickup a fancy tripod adapter and tripod head. I checked google and their website to find out they close at six. Great. Leave work at 3:30 and call to double check they're open. Yes open, great. I drive 30 minutes and get there at 4. I can't find an open door or anything, then some guy walks up and says were closed, sorry. Closed early today and we don't update the website with holiday hours. Thanks for wasting an hour of my time outdoorsmans. Looks like I'll get a uni dapter and bogen head. They're not getting my business.
-
Thanks Jay and Cody. I was just venting as I had a long drive over there and was frustrated by the situation. Looking back I guess I should have asked specifically for hours, I just assumed they were the same since they were open and no mention of them being different. I didn't by any means intend to sway anyone away from supporting outdoorsmans, I was just venting. Cody seems like a class act and I'll give him a call to clarify and clear the air.

I actually told the guy that I just need a tripod adapter, and asked if he could just let me grab one real quick and he said it would be too much work. Not a big deal, I was just frustrated and needed to vent. Again, I've heard nothing but good things about their service and products in the past. I guess I just got unlucky today.
-
Exactly. My timing was perfectly terrible.
-
Ya I've heard nothing but great things about them. I guess I just expected them to mention they were closing early when I called at 3:30 to see if they were open today. As a small business owner myself, I would at least mention it if someone calls 30 minutes before I plan on closing. Just disappointed I guess.
-
I ended up ordering it online. I paid $525 with free shipping. I figured I saved about $130 all together.

Ya that 9 degrees really snuck up on us. Woke up freezing to death and all water in camp was frozen. It was rough.
-
I was debating between the 12x9 cabin one and the 10x14. In the end, the size and ease of setup won over the awning. Do they stay pretty warm? Last year during the general javelina hunt it got down to about 9 degrees.
-
I got mine a couple weeks ago at the carefree office and had no wait.
-
So last year I accidentally left my blood soaked gloves in a zip-loc bag for about a week after my javelina hunt, and they STINK! I have washed them numerous times and tried all kinds of different ways to get the smell out, but they still smell of dead carcass. Does anyone have any ideas to get the smell out? I've heard baking soda might help, but haven't tried yet.
-
Check the Hunt AZ book.
-
Ya I know, I always use the rubber gloves and field dressing kit, but while butchering back at camp it was hovering around 10 degrees and I couldn't handle it anymore and threw the gloves back on. Thanks Kaffer, I'll try soaking a couple times and see what I can do.
-
That's what I figured. They were nice scent-lok gloves that I was hoping to keep around as a backup, but that smell sticks to my hands every time I wear them. Kills me.
