Very tough one. I would also stick to your guns with the grade thing. If he's really that excited, he'll get his butt into gear and get that school work together. At that age, there are very few things as important as getting good grades. Bad High School transcripts can limit what he can do in college, and in turn as a career. I know for engineering majors you can't have any high school math or science grades of worse than C.

Vortex sells a Uni-Dapter tripod adapter that is MUCH better than the standard vortex tripod adapter. It works great. The standard Vortex tripod adapter is impossible.

I've got a t3 lite stainless and LOVE IT!! Smoothest action and nice crisp adjustable trigger.

I also recommend looking at the diamondbacks. They were my first real binoculars over $100 and were great for the money.

So after about 4-5 years of hunting, I'm wanting to get into bow hunting. I've never shot a bow and have zero experience or knowledge of the subject. I'm curious what equipment I need to get started? I know a bow, but what accessories are needed as well? Any info would be awesome.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. I don't plan on hunting Gould's, I'm happy with Merriam's. I just have no experience with Turkey so thought I'd ask. Any difference between the earlier hunt and the week later hunt? I see the odds are tougher and success rates higher for the earlier hunts. Any reason for this, or just because it's before the other?

I use the Culmann Magnesit 519 and it does me pretty good. I have tried a couple others in the sub $150 range and keep coming back to this one.

So I took the plunge into the spotting scope game and bought myself a Vortex Razor HD 65mm. I was considering a couple different models but figured in the end I would regret not buying the best first, and upgrade later. I've done that with binos and rifle scopes so I went right for the best this time. I just got it and I can't wait to test it out in the field. So far after looking through it in the front yard, it's AMAZING! It's actually much clearer and sharper than my Kaibabs. I'm happy with the purchase so far.
