Weather is starting to look even better… Low 50's and high 70's with wind below 10mph. Perfect. -
Congrats! Those are some amazing trophies.

Just loaded up a bunch. It's 42 grains Varget with the 145 grain LRX. OAL at 2.833" just barely allows it to fit into the magazine. Good luck. Let us know how it works for you.

I'm in for 2. I sure could use one of these. ha.

Yes, I use the LRX and Varget as my pet load in my Tikka 7mm-08. It's an amazing round. No pressure signs and coming out at 2850 fps. I'll get you the charge data when I get home.

Congrats!

Oh man. Now I have something else to worry about next week in 36B. Thanks guys.

Well the weather is looking to be halfway decent. Long term forecasts here in AZ mean almost nothing, but it gives me hope. Light rain and overcast days is when I've seen the biggest bucks just out cruising around without a care in the world. It almost seems like it gives them some sense of security for some reason. -
Very nice bucks there.

Ya, even on the early November hunt last year it was HOT. -

Where will you guys be camping? I'm planning on being off to the left there, just past the concrete bridge. Right there where everyone goes. haha. -

Unfortunately I think you are correct! I will keep up the wishful thinking though... I'll be wishing right there with you. -
I've programmed some of the UV5R and GT3 Radios. There is some software you can use that really helps to simplify it. Great little radios if you get the right antenna on them. I ordered custom tuned antennas for mine and we are talking at distances around 2-3 miles in the woods and longer in open rolling hills a la 36b.

Nice bucks there. This is the hunt I've been saving my points up for, maybe next year.
-
Good luck. That's a tough hunt. Lots of birds in there though.

That is awesome! Holy smokes.

Archery deer last season I was in a pretty large open meadow atop a mesa surrounded by pine trees. I was tucked in behind a big stump and downed tree as a herd of about 20 mule deer worked feeding towards me. Suddenly I see a guy across the meadow to my right. He's stalking these deer, or more like pushing the herd. He took a big loud step and fell on a log, which sent the herd of deer running. I figured the deer were long gone, I'll mess with this guy. So I pulled out my cell phone and the Primos call app. Cranked up the volume and hit the Baffle Bugle. That guy hit the ground so fast, and had no idea what to do. For about 2 minutes he sat there flat on his stomach, then started army crawling towards me. I hit it again… He stopped, then started crawling. All of a sudden he started grunting back with his mouth. It was a really weird oooouuuuggh sound he was making as he army crawled ever closer. By this time I was trying not to laugh too hard but it was hard to keep it in. I got up and waved at him. He still had no clue it was me messing with him, and was waving for me to get down like I was ruining his chances. Finally we met and he was telling me the whole story how he was chasing these deer, then a monster elk came and was bugling 50 yards away. He then proceeded to tell me how he couldn't believe I didn't see the elk, he was convinced I should have been right on them… Oh if you only knew buddy. i never told him and went on my way.

I wouldn't feel too bad. Success rate for that hunt has averaged just over 20% for the past 4 years or so. You're with the 80% majority not filling their tags. At least you had a chance to get out there.

Tikkas are excellent donor actions, I would put them over a 700 or savage. Aftermarket components are the only down side. This. I love the Tikka actions. Smooth like butter.

Which hunt do you have? I've hunted 7E a few times and have seen some nice bulls.
-
Congrats on your first bull.

I used to use that app when it was free. Then I got Gaia GPS and I love it.
