  1. I watched every you tube video there is on this head from bear to javelina, but there is no elk kills. If you have a success story or failure could you post some feedback please. I have killed elk with muzzys, but after personally swhacking a javelina in january I was very impressed. I will be shooting 70 lbs with a 480 grain ish arrow setup with a heavy FOC with the 2" head. I think I'm going to test this head on a beef hide with a beef scapula behind it for the just in case scenario. So any pros or cons from you guys would be appreciated. Not concerned about other b-heads just this one. Thx...Toby Update... They work pretty good.

What do you consider a big bull

This one is my 2nd archery bull ever(spike 2002). Not sure of score but I would not let him walk by if I ever get drawn again. Any guesses? We rookie scored it at 315 but no idea if we did it right. Don't really care he is big and going on the wall. Big is what you make it. I wished to break 300 but by day 4 I was ready to tag whatever crossed my path. I guess its all it's all in the eye of the beholder.Money or rez roid bulls do nothing for me no matter how big they are. Back to the question at hand I say 340 or bigger.

    Unit 20C

TOO many tags for the amount of private property. That unit needs to have 200 tags maximum per year and be shut down a couple years just like 42 needs to be. Like that would ever happen.

  9. what was your arrow setup, poundage and speed? At 32 yards I figured a full passthru. I still got holes on both sides. I think I drilled a rib center on exit.
  10. Update.....They work pretty good. 1inch plus going in and 2 inch plus going out. 70 yards dead elk. Recommend heavy arrow.470 grains and 32 yards produced 4 inches of arrow sticking out opposite side middle body with no shoulder contact.

    Good meat processor

DIY is great. Now do you have a place to keep 4 quarters of an elk or a completely boned out elk cold? For the price of a few elk processings you build a nice walk-in to hang your meat in. Then all you have to worry about is cooling off your meat from up north to home. Those fancy pre built sheds you see all over would be a great start. No permit required because its moveable. Use one corner for the walk in and the rest for processing and storage. Anyway forschner makes great boning, skinning and steak cutting knives. I use them for my field knives also. A good steel is a plus also. Once you learn to break down an animal properly they are the same from a javelina to a buffalo. As for processors I am partial to Thrushs. They are a little west of wickenburg. Let me tell you one thing about processors...I cut game for 8 years as a second job and trust me...nobody steals game meat for their own freezer. Are there crappy processors that give you someone elses meat or leave more on the bone than you would you betcha. Now on the other side if you bring half the forest still stuck to your animal after you shot it in the butt twice and then both shoulders and one round in the guts to make sure you have ruined it completely and wonder why you don't have as much meat as you think...don't blame the guy cutting it. Good field prep and cool meat will produce good results even if you cut it wrong it will be taken care of properly. All hunters should have to take a field prep course after a hunter safety course so they don't waste what they are shooting. Let me add one more thing.....bacon. My grind for hamburgers only I grind up some good bacon with it. All my other grind I use beef fat. One more random thing..if you are gong to do your own game invest in a chain glove for processing so you don't have to worry about cutting yourself.
  23. +1 on spin testing. If you get any wobble keep rotating heads til you dont. A lot of times your insert may need set again. A little wobble magnifies a lot at 300 fps.
