What to do ,11 points ,Res.

You are definitely in no mans land. I am in the same boat except about 4-5 years behind you. You have plenty of points to draw a lot of nice whitetail hunts, but not nearly enough for a strip tag and won't for many years from what I can see on the draw spreadsheets.

    Evap Cooler in Garage?

A mini-split is a good choice too if you are in it for the long haul.

    Evap Cooler in Garage?

I have a small 1 in my garage that rolls around. It is helpful when you are directly in front of it. The best thing to do would be mount one outside with the discharge in the garage. Remember that you need airflow in and out of the garage for these to work well. If you lock yourself in the garage with a cooler with no venting you are just going to create Florida in July in your garage which will suck. I try to put mine sitting in front of my open garage side door and keep the main garage door open about a foot or two.

    What To Build

I would say 6.5x55 or AI if it will fit in the short action with enough room for long bullets. Old school for the win.

    Urban Fishing @ Rio Vista

Does anyone have any tips on fishing here? Is the main pond near the Rec Center the best pond? It seems to be full of a ton of algae right now. We fished this morning in the lowest pond with little action bottom fishing. We moved to the main pond and saw tons of algae so I switched to float fishing and had a little luck with some small bluegill. And thoughts or advice? I am working on getting my 6 year old hooked on some fishing. He caught 2 today and was pretty stoked.

    Long hot summer

It is a love hate relationship for me. Personally I hate it, professionally I love it. I sell air conditioners so hot is good for my wallet.

Good thing I don't really have friends... It is an easy quick way to get out with my kid and not burn a whole day going to the lake.

A/C guy needed in East valley

a lot of the HVAC supply houses are wholesale only though so keep that in mind. If you are not a contractor they might not sell to you. Grainger will have the parts too but you will pay a premium for them. Some appliance parts stores carry HVAC fan motors and caps and are more retail friendly.

Mr. Heather Big Buddy Propane Heater

I have a 10x14 kodiak and a normal buddy heater, not the big buddy that uses 2 tanks. For most cool and cold nights it is fine. I run it on the BBQ tank like others. I picked up a CO sensor at home depot that I keep inside just to be safe. It works really well for most nights. We did have to spend a night in tele tent in unit 7 a few years ago in December. It was probably 10* plus wind that night. We had 1 buddy heater on high all night and another buddy on low. We survived but I wouldn't call it super comfortable, but we didn't shiver all night either. 95% of the time the buddy heater will get it done nicely. 5% will not be comfortable, but you will live and be happy you had it.

    Single shot 224 Valkerie

If you are going to have a barrel made for 1:7 twist why chamber it in 224 Valkerie? .22-250 or .220 Swift or probably a bunch of others do the same thing or better if you give them a 1:7 twist barrel.

    Falcon Rifle Scopes?

Does anyone have any info or feedback on these? A buddy of mine just picked up a savage axis in 22-250 and mentioned he might be able to get a deal on a Falcon Menace to put on it. I don't know jack about this brand and thought I would reach out for input. Looking at the scope he sent me a pick of it looks alot like an Athlon Argos with the turrets offset on the sides of the scope. Thoughts?

FS- RUGER BISLEY 44 SPECIAL MINT

That is a nice piece. I have had several Ruger's over the years and love them, and this is a fine example of a very uncommon one that is in great shape.

    High School Rifle Teams

North High School had one in the JROTC program. They still might. The range was built in the bottom of the football stadium in the JROTC classroom area.

    Trying to decide....?

I think 50mm scopes look funky on alot of rifles especially small/medium size ones. They look to bulky. It also pulls your head up higher off the rifle A good 40-44mm with a 30mm tube will transmit alot of good light and keep your head closer to the stock.

    Trying to decide....?

Get something lower power without a parallax adjustment. Less to remember to fiddle with wit a newer shooter. I went through this same thing a few months ago for my new 6.5x55. I chose an obsolete Leupold VX-6 2-12x42 I found online brand new for $700. My top choices were these, and I looked and ALOT of scopes before I chose. The budget was $1000 max, but more toward $750 was the goal. 1. Leupold VX-6 that I bought. 2a. Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 2b. Leupold VX-5HD 3x15x42 3. Vortex Razor LDHD 3x12 I think I have the 6x24 Vortex HSLR you mentioned and that is ALOT of scope for that rifle IMO. to much scope. That said I also looked at the Vortex 4-16x44 HSLR for my new rifle and td it didn't hold and td candle to the clarity of my above choices. I nevery got to touch an athlon in my scope quest, but they didn't offer a 40-44mm objective in a scope I was interested in so it didn't matter much.

    Tumblers for reloading

I have an old blue dillon too. It works well. I am kind of wondering about the newer drum style tumblers with stainless steel rods though. They seem pretty sweet and less messy.
  21. There is a note on the AZGFD website saying they pulled the leftover list because it was an error and that a small number of tags were being issued to people who should have received them in the draw. I wasn't one of them though I don't think.

    .243 for elk?

Let him use the creedmoor. The 243 will do it but you better make a good shot at a reasonable range and use a good bullet like 100 gr partition. My 257 weatherby did just fine with 115gr bullets a few years ago. I took two shots at about 260-280 yards. Both were good lung shots and she went down quick. The reason I took the 257 over my larger caliber because I shoot that rifle better then the others. I know I can place good shots with that rifle. I wouldn't choose the 243 on purpose if I had bigger rounds I shot well, but if I had no choice or was in a pinch in would use a 243 without hesitation.

Buying a used suburban or yukon, what to look for?

I looked at them for a long time, but ended up getting a 2015 Nissan Armada for a lot less than a used Burb or Yukon. The only complaint so far is crap mileage for stop and go driving.

Watch for the 5.3l motors with oIL consumption issues.
