I use road flares when it's wet, just light one and throw it in your pile of wood no matter what size the wood is. The road flare burns for approximately 10 min and burns hotter than the wood itself so it's an easy fire starter, just throw it in and get back to whatever else you need to do. But I only do that ifs it's wet out and the wood is too wet to light on its own.

It's sad for the dog but he needs to go and the babysitter or whoever owns the dog needs to be sited. I say it's sad for the dog because he didn't choose to be raised in what I would suspect is be a poor place for a dog and a sad excuse for a good owner. A dogs aggression comes from its surroundings and it's owner, not a breed. As far as the little boy, I wish him all the luck to a great recovery and I feel bad for the little guy, but who's judgement was it to allow him to stay in a place with such conditions? Would you drop your kid off at a "babysitter" with poorly kept animals in the back yard?
