Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )
az_shooter replied to twigsnapper's topic in The Campfire
Well I have this buddy that I really enjoy hunting with and he always puts in the work and never complains when we're not seeing the deer, but... He is an avid story teller and everytime he gets to telling another story about something funny that happened to him or something crazy he saw, he always get into the story way to much and before I know it were sitting on the hill side and he is not using his hunting voice. I mostly enjoy the stories he tells but for bucks sake, you dont have to yell haha. But a good friend and a good hunting buddy non the less. I'd take him out with me anytime. -
got the nitto terra graplers, like em some so for, truck looks great and rides like a dream! thanks all

Alright fellow coues whitetailonians, i have a hard dicision to make and im looking for a little input that could help me. I have a 2001 dodge cummins 4x4 and im putting a 2 inch level kit on it and i cant decide what kind of tires to throw under it. i dont want to go big and knoby because i acually use my truck and i dont want to spent a lot when it comes time to replace them. but i also dont want to go too small and have the truck look like is riding on a shoping cart. so, does anyone have the same truck or know anyone who has done the same thing and have good advice for me on what size tires i should go with?
-
Good info, i already have new shocks for the beast so im prepared for that. the stock wheels on my truck are the 16" but when i bought the level and shocks i also found a piar of 17" off a 2009 dodge that will fit well so thanks for the info on your tire size. i also appreciate the info on the track bar, that was something i wasnt thinking about too much.sounds like i have a little more to do then just tires but its definatly good to know before hand, again, thanks for all the good info.

awesome horns, love all the trash on em'!!!

it blew my mind at first too but they have elk in some of the oddest places down in texas, we saw elk in areas that only desert mule deer would be in, pretty odd at first.

yeah man i was down there last year in fort stockton for the fires and i found a pretty sweet mule deer head, gotta love finding sheds and getting h pay!

here are a few pictures of all my coues deer horns i found in 2011, most of them were found on fires
-
yeah i posted on that topic, the head and two other horns in that pile came off fires that had been burned over. the head had some broken tines and had been chewed on a bit but the fire had no affect on it besides browning it a bit. thx for the comments!

awesome job! 425 is a heck of a shot for most any hunter but those 300 ultra mags sure do make it easier haha i shot my first coues this year at 380 with a 300 sendero ultra and it was cake. Congrats to your woman and two very nice animals!

7 mm or 300 ultra, both are sweet guns and are more than capable of taking down any deer or big game

I think I finally broke my 100 inch barier
az_shooter replied to 1Archer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
he ain't no little guy! you crushed the 100 inch mark, great job congrats on the deer! -
Nice buck Robert! That is a weird break on the main beam, i wonder how it happened, anyways congrats on the dear!!!

I've found a few really good horns after a fire and most of the time they aren't in too bad of shape, the really chalked ones don't hold up too well but otherwise burned areas are good places to look. But, as a firefighter for the forest service I do get a bit of an advantage at first picks!
