Sorry for your loss. 63 is too young, RIP Kenny.

Overall, case is in good shape. The bad: Interior foam is getting tired, cannot find the keys. Heavy duty wheeled case, latches work. Measures 44" X 17" X 6.5" $125 OBO

Lot of good advice in this thread. Most of it earned with leather and sweat. Best advice I can give you is to find an area you like and learn it well - "make it your own."

When it comes to finding live springs, tinajas, etc. there is no substitute for boot leather. Unfortunately, many springs that were live year round are now dry or perennial. Ground water pumping and a general drought have rendered an alarming number of natural water sources non existent. Do your groundwork and you'll be OK.

Where can these be had for $1100 NIB?

I believe many of you will recognize this device. Some of you may have used one. I've found a number of them while burning boot leather in Region IV. Curious if anybody knows the how & why ............

Guess what it is, how it's used and why .......

That is a beefed up version of what I've found. The antenna and battery pack are much larger on the units you've found. Interestingly, the battery pack on the units I picked up were 8 AA's and what appreared to be heatsink material in the battery pack. Suspect the batteries get too cold @ high altitude and succumb thus the heatsink. -

Edge, thanks for the explanation. Basically, doping the wind, air density, etc. military style. YPG must use them often, not hard to find. -

Yes, this is a Vaisala 92. A balloon launched GPS enabled weather station. Found quite a few well off the perimeter of the YPG. I figured they were deployed for info relating the either halo jumps or targeting artillery. Without giving up state secrets, anybody know how they are used? -

George. We all need to eat dirt periodically. The equivalent of taking the immune system to the gym.

Saw where a 195" rocky was taken in 6A/22. I realize that is not an official score but WOW!!!! Also, a 189" desert out of 37B. Amazing!

Been spending a lot of time at the house with all the virus BS going on. Lots of deliveries from UPS, Amazon, etc. My dog is the most chicken dog I've ever had. That being said, when the doorbell rings ............

Compound, traditional - new, older? Welcome to the site BTW.

Best bet is to roost a bird if possible, if not, try to find moist drainages with recent sign. My favorite drainages are finger draws near larger drainages (canyons). Get comfortable and prepare for an hour sit while occasionally calling, move, repeat. I don't set up in the bottom of a drainage, usually try to be 75+ yards above the water course. Remain vigilant, on windy days birds will often remain silent and appear out of nowhere. Be patient!

I am not a guru by any stretch but will guess mid 90's gross. Nice buck.

Anyone know the family washed away in Tonto Basin?
Swivelhead replied to PRDATR's topic in The Campfire
This ^^^ Gila County Sherrifs office, zoning, all of them are complicit. Put up barricades & wash their hands of the situation. Everybody knows barricades are ignored out of necessity, law enforcement looks the other way. I'm sure Gila County happily issues building permits and collects property taxes from people affected by the "creek". Local residents do their best to safely cross the creek in large high clearance vehicles when the Tonto is up. It's a dance with the Devil. Time for the county to get the bridge done. -
$14.98 gone forever .......

The official “I didn’t get jack shoot” thread
Swivelhead replied to yotebuster's topic in Elk Hunting
Max point pool BP numbers for premium hunts for all species are way up there. New hunters or youth who hope to draw premium tags are so far behind points wise, likely they'll never make the max point pool(s) to guarantee a permit. I do advocate that any applicant should have an opportunity to draw a permit, i.e. no waiting periods, preference point system, etc. I've thought about methods that will get long suffering applicants drawn but still give everybody a chance at a permit. I advocate the following: 1) Square applicant bonus points. This would dramatically increase the effectiveness of a bonus point. 2) When the demand for a species (sheep - bison) or any hunt number for any species during a current draw hits above a max point pool threshold of say 20 - 25 points, 50% of the available permits go to max point holders. -

The downside to this philosophy is that units are overrun with people who don't have tags. Not to cool when you have to back out of an area because a spot is taken ........ by someone who does not have a tag. Hard to tell who is hunting and who is looking. -
Got a hit for lope, not sure if it is mine or the two other lope applications I put in for family members. Should be my tag as I have 27 points but you never know till the actual results are posted. Nada for elk. Good luck to all who got CC hits.
