    Lion tag?

Get a tag. Two friends of mine have taken cats in the last month.

    Shots to the right

Great Post ^^^^ Even when you think everything you can control is covered there are still many variables that come into play.

Looking to buy a chocolate lab pup

Kudos to Barb for stepping up. The health issues of which I speak generally don't show up till the dog matures. I know nothing of Barb or her operation, just voicing my opinion concerning breeders.

Looking to buy a chocolate lab pup

Going to give you the benefit of the doubt that your comment wasn't a shot at Barb. She is a pretty awesome lady. I don't think it was a shot at anybody except those who breed/sell labs without genetic testing & OFA certification of both sire & dam. Labs, like most popular breeds have a lot of health issues related to irresponsible breeders. Spending the $$$ upfront with a breeder who truly cares about the breed will likely save a lot of vet bills down the road.

To age or not to age

This explains why the game I take is generally tough. I almost always use the gutless method, chill, cut & wrap within a day or two of the kill. Will continue to do it that way but will thaw & age in the fridge.

    Safford where are you?

Those affected by this hailstorm would be wise to have roofs, A/C units, etc. inspected for damage. A damaged roof may take a while to reveal itself, condenser coil on A/C unit will be obvious.

    Outdoor Edge or Havalon?

I've got a couple Havalons. They're wimpy, look elsewhere.

Time to open up the debate on Rifle Selection

Being you are going on an early bull hunt the range will likely be relatively close. Either weapon in your arsenal will do the job if you do yours. Spend your money on ammo & spend time doing practical shooting in the field. Good luck in the draw.

    Escudilla and Baldy next?

Extinction is a natural process. Don't mess with it.

Big Swaro Sale! Save up to $500!

When the sale ends the resale price will be similar to what it was. Normally, the only time I've seen Swaro glass "on sale" is when the line is discontinued. I understand how your feel, spending more $$$ than necessary. Vortex did a similar thing a while back offering Kaibabs @ $800 for no apparent reason.

    I feel like Pavlov's dog.

    TIRED

The AZ Republic is a liberal rag owned by Gannet who also produces USA Today. It is NOT a local paper but an arm of a national propaganda spewing machine.

    SCOUTING PICS

Not sure which unit you are scouting but I'd think that is a good one anywhere. Thx for sharing with us.

Fyi costco has some sentry biometric handgun safes

Likely, their insurance carrier mandates this. Just a WAG. In this litigating society, everybody is trying to shed liability.

    ground blinds

Double Bull wide. Very important to brush them in well. The days of setting up & climbing in are over IMO. Supposedly turkeys don't care about a pop up blind. With a few exceptions, I've recently had turkeys spook at the sight of my blind. Anybody else have this issue with turkeys?

    Moo cow down

Congrats on your buff. No shame in taking a load of tasty meat off Raymond Ranch. Probably will cash my points in for that area if things don't change on the north rim.

How old were you when you started hunting big game?

12, my dad hunted very little and only small game. Fortunately, he provided me and my brothers the opportunity. Been a life long passion. Fall of 1968 my older brother had a late rifle bull tag for unit 1. Dad dropped us off on Mamie Creek northeast of Escudilla mountain. We packed up the mountain about a 1/2 mile. Stayed 2 nights, dad would check on us daily. Saw a few elk, no bulls. Weather was good but very cold @ that altitude. I was 12, my brother was 14. A really good memory. We were real mountain men.

Excellent! Two very nice bulls. Chest freezer won't cut it, I'm thinking walk-in.

Great story. I'm especially impressed with effort you put into the season. Whopper buck! Congrats.
