Wow. I'd strongly recommend against 8 people on 1 boat. But I guess if you just want a boat ride with your ladies reeling in fish do whatever you want. I'd probably not go fishing I've got another boat lined up for serious fishing. This is a boat ride with some close friends, if we're gonna burn fuel, might as well troll. Always cool to see fish in a spread. I'll be a good time.

Need a 40+ foot boat as we'll have 8 people. More of a boat ride than a fishing day but we will be fishing. Figure to let the women pull on the fish if we get bit.

Beautiful bird. Goulds are the bomb.

Story is likely copyrighted. We'll see it in a publication at some point. Awesome ram. -
Rocky Sheep Hunt Structure Change - Sloppy Seconds
Swivelhead replied to Heat's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Cause class IV rams (sheep we should shoot) make up about 2% of the population. -
Anybody know when G&F usually uploads BP reports to their website? Been watching for the 16 spring and 16 elk/lope reports.

AZGFD Bust The Tonto Basin Charity Ride Cancer Benefit
Swivelhead replied to tjhunt2's topic in The Campfire
AZG&F missed an opportunity to have a positive influence on the event. A rider orientation presented by G&F prior to the ride would have given AZG&F way better press. -
I'd recommend Swaro 15's made after 2006. You want the swarodur/swarobright version. Should sell used for $1300-$1500. Make sure they are covered by the USA "no fault" warranty. Zeiss 15 X 56 Conquests are very good too. CWT classified prices seem to be $1100 - $1200 although I paid $1300 for mine.

What's with all the clowning on cyber scouters?
Swivelhead replied to KingJeff187's topic in Elk Hunting
Sharing information within a circle of friends is substantially different than posting "starting points" on the web. Open discussion concerning technique, preparation, etc. is a non issue. -
Anxiously waiting for the BP reports for the 2016 lope draw. Figure 2018 will be my year to "choose" my lope tag. Assessing point creep will be interesting.
-
I'll enter next years draw with 24 lope points. My brother drew a 5B rifle tag w/19 points, he's jacked. We'll have a good time.

Zeiss Conquests have sold on this site for $1100 - $1200. That's a great deal on good optics. I paid more. Zeiss Conquest have a no fault warranty beyond the original purchaser. Have not looked through the Meopta (yet).

Didn't draw a darn thing so tonight, AZG&F gets both barrels. lol What do you all think about AZG&F withholding available draw results from bonafide applicants who choose not to have an account with AZG&F? Why are the bureaucrats, holed up in their compound out on Carefree highway, bent on coercing us to submit to their wishes? The coercion is subtle but unmistakable, what are they after?
-
The club concept AZG&F has recently implemented sticks in my craw. I think the whole thing is baloney. Just who the heck do they think pays the bills for the department? Sent them my thoughts: As a hunter & fisherman, I already spend a substantial amount of money purchasing permits, licenses, etc. annually. I have a couple issues with being shaken down for another $25 for the "I support wildlife" revenue scheme. #1. The AZ access map: Providing outdoorsmen with (up till now) free mapping defining land ownership boundaries reduces conflict for outdoorsmen, LEO's and landowners. I truly believe this portion of the Access map should be available to all at no cost. #2. I'd like to think "I support wildlife" is aimed at non-consumptive outdoor users who are currently experiencing a free ride on the back's of consumptive outdoor users. Consider extending the benefits of this new program (no magazine subscription) to anybody who has a current hunting or fishing license. Your thoughts?

Stanley & elkaholic, I too attended the meeting at dept headquarters a few years back. For whatever reason the dept. really wants this Portal to fly.
-
Explain to me how outdoorsmen "benefit greatly from the money they spend" as it applies to wildlife management.
-
You're joking, right? Do you know what coercion means? Umm.... Incenting folks to sign-up for the portal and/ or driving traffic to the portal. Yes, but coercing anyone? Too funny... I frankly don't see anything wrong with it, nor do I care. WAY more important things for me to wonder about or speculate over..... I used to wait until close to what ever the published date for 'draw results being mailed' before I could see the results online. Now if I choose to willingly (without anyone strong-arming me or coercing me...), I can sign-up and end the speculation and guessing in my brain a little earlier. If I didn't like the idea of the portal, I would simply not sign-up and wait until the published date. Simple, IMO... S. I guess I did go "black helicopters" with my OP. Still wonder why they are pushing the portal so hard. They could have put results out on all 3 venues (phone, web, portal) and avoided any speculation as to their motives.

Non consumptive users do not fund AZGF game branch. Non game branch gets some Heritage fund money from the AZ lottery. Some money does come to the department from gas taxes (OHV, Marine use). Pittman-Robertson act reimburses Federal money. The bulk of the departments budget comes from hunters & fishermen. General population outnumbers us but their contributions don't fund wildlife management.
-
I stand corrected, AZGF wildlife water locations are still on the free version. Land ownership (previously free) now requires a $25 annual fee for access.
-
A week ago, one could get wildlife water locations and land ownership on the free version. Now, if you want these "enhanced services" you will pay for it by becoming a member. They did a takeaway or to put it another way "we got serviced".

First time archery elk hunting Unit 6B - Advice on materials and scouting
Swivelhead replied to CouesHunterAZ's topic in Elk Hunting
Learn the road system in your unit, wear out some boots scouting. Look for last years rubs, it's a good indication where they'll be this September. Congrats on your tag! -
Thought it was a great prank pulled on a very good prankster. I say "game on". Figure Lark is dreaming up a "get ahead". His post to Amanda is likely a setup .......... the saga continues.

You only pay once on quality stuff, it's like buying a pair of swaros bro! ^^^^ This. Outdoorsman's gear performs. Customer service is outstanding also.
