Great game, congrats to the cats. Fluke ........ yep NO, NO, NO

I've been told coal cannot be purchased by the general public in AZ. I've purchased coal in Kanab but that was a long time ago. Coal works great but you must maintain your chimney as it will plug, usually about 3 am. I'd recommend a hot wood fire in your stove at least once or twice a day.

Texas got it right. Instead of the state paying to control feral hogs, they've got willing shooters paying to do it for them. Probably sold a few choppers too. I hope AZ will copy this model should feral hogs become an issue in our state.

2 BUCKS DOWN BY 10AM
Swivelhead replied to droppedmybowoutoftree's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Great job you guys! Thanks for posting. -
I believe most people bait to draw game so photos can be captured via trail cam. A bait station can be placed away from known water sources where cameras are likely to be tampered with. Bait can be placed where a favorable approach and/or wind can be utilized for a blind or stand site. Baiting is effective, otherwise most of you would not defend it as necessary. I strongly believe most non hunters and many hunters see baiting as cheating. I also believe baiting was not much of an issue till the advent of trail cams. G&F will ban baiting, timing is the only question left unanswered.

This issue can be massaged from every viewpoint. Point is, G&F see's baiting as a conditioning of animals. Baiting is done.

+++++++1 Burris likely will solve your problem quickly.

Sure is a nice ram, beautiful.
-
Hunters, ranchers and other wildlife enthusiasts placing salt/minerals could disperse ungulates rather than concentrate them. Natural licks probably see less use due to this phenomenon. That being said, salt is not the issue. G&F has a problem with hunters conditioning game via food.

20 pts. Had an archery tag in the early 90's. I would agree bonus points are overrated till you get to the 20% pool.

Thx for the post. Hilarious!

+1 COOSFAN, I beleive way too many people leave animals overnight. It"s a tough call but unless I'm ABSOLUTELY sure of a bad hit, I follow up within an hour or two. Succullent venison is the most important part of a harvest for me. t

I would agree getting involved at Commission meetings is a good thing. The baiting issue is a tough sell to non-hunters (try it sometime). Eventually, non-hunters will likely determine the future of hunting via a ballot initiative advocated by anti-hunters. I believe this is precisely why the G&F will eventually get around to banning bait.
-
I believe that G&F is primarily concerned with "food" bait. Hopefully, any rule changes will deal with that issue specifically. Salt/minerals are everywhere both natural and artificial. Let that dog sleep.
-
Sorry boys, baiting on public land is gone. Even if you stop it this go round, it'll be back.

Mule Deer, Coues and Cross Breeding
Swivelhead replied to m77's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I've observed a Coues buck tending a muley doe in 22. Also saw a hybrid doe hanging with muley does in 22. The hybrid had strange looking tail, big like a Coues but had a dark tip like a muley. She also had a light rump patch like a muley. Her coloration was very similar to a Wiemariemer (sp?). Cool looking deer, this deer was seen near the summit of Slate Creek off hwy 87. -
No love from AZ G&F. Leftovers aren't too bad.

Go to the source, call Dillon directly.

I like the modular concept. Pricing is obscene, I thought the Euro was tanking.

Hopefully Lark will return. The man knows his stuff.

Tough hunt. Unless you've got a lot of time to scout, you'd do well to try elsewhere.

Cats are definitely wild!!!!! Congrats to the U of A and their fans.
