Went and picked up my camera that had been in the mountains since january. spikes and more spikes chasing does but i did have one big deer come through and he is big. Also had a two point come through but on his left antler the antler drops and curves forward toward his nose . I also have a spike with a kicker at the base of his left antler. Any guesses on how the big one would score. enjoy

I really want to look at the new kaibab 15x56 when they come out, but if it has the same focus issues i won't be getting them. i was looking for the right words but i think inline said it best "the depth of focus" sucks and it does take a long while to get used to. Great glass though.

Now that the vortex 15x50 have been out for a while i want to get everybody's opinion on them. I have a pair and i think the clarity is pretty darn good but i really hate the focus. Its just too darn touchy. Other than that i love them as my first true pair of binos. I'm comparing these vortex to the old style zeiss my friend has. What do you vortex 15x50 users think ?

On a short notice i took my two daughters with me to sit a blind. I had to take hot cocoa, sleeping bags, and hand warmers. We got in the blind at around 730 and waited. We finally had a couple does coming down a trail and out of no where a spike came and ran them everywhere except near the blind. i don't like to shoot spikes but i had my girls with me and wanted them to experience me shooting at a deer. Then a 2x2 ran the spike out and chased the doe around but not near the blind. finally a 20 yd shot presented itself and i had to shuffle around in the blind to get set for a shot. Both my girls were in perfect view so i drew back but the 2x2 saw movement in the blind and bolted. My 11 yr old gave me all kinds of grief about not getting the shot off in time. She was just making fun of me. After the deer left the area we didn't see any deer till a doe came from the back side of us 2 hours later. I had to wake my youngest up from her deep sleep to see the doe. After the doe walked off a 3x3 showed up and presented a 25 yd shot. Both my girls could see the buck so i shot. I missed the buck and he ran about 5 feet and turned to see what had just happened. I quickly knock another arrow and hit him perfect. My girls were so excited and wanted to go see the deer right away. i made them wait a horrible 45 minutes. We found the blood trail and followed it (blood everywhere, it wasn't hard to follow). We found the buck 80 Yds away. My youngest tells me "dad, are you proud of yourself ?" I say yes. She replied "cause i'm really really proud of you!" THAT MADE MY HEART MELT!!!!!! We took pics and made phone calls. I had to call for some reinforcements from a good friend reggie. He helped me pull it to the top of the mountian and caped it out for me. A big thanks to you and your kids for helping reggie. Being able to share all this excitement with my kids was the best and they loved every minute of it. enjoy. Jerry

I got to looking at the deer i got in december and realized i had two trail cam pictures of him. I'm gonna sit my blind again in that area this coming weekend. Hopefully i can score twice in the same area within a month. Good luck everyone.

New G&F Rule would ban hunting over water?
thunderbolt replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I do think its partly about money, so why don't we purpose a " SALT STAMP" for your hunting license. It'll generate money !!! I think they'd jump all over it. -
What a beautifull deer !!!!! Congrats to your friend!!!!

QUOTE (mr.smith @ Jan 9 2009, 04:59 PM) I'll be the one to be unpopular and call bullsh*t. It's a different deer. The deer is repositioned in nearly every picture and not one is a conventional pose. I especially love the behind the log photo. Convenient how there are no shots of the old wound and you can't see an arrow sticking out or dried blood or anything. Why not just admit you shot another deer and accept the due congratulations. It is a fine buck with lots of mass and character. Flame on. I know all of you naive long shooters believe the story WELL SAID ROSSOUTDOORS05 !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BY THE WAY......... CONGRATS ON A DARN BEAUTIFUL DEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know they are not mine but i did lose a pair of nikon action 10x50 in unit 27. They were my spare binos for anyone that went hunting with me. Good luck finding the owners of them binos.
