The 270 is my all time favorite cartridge. As to which bullet to buy, buy them all in 130 grain and then hit the range to find which one your rifle likes best. Then learn to hit a playing card out 300 yds. and you'll do fine.

I want to get or make a gong for shooting. # 1 is the gong sold at sportsmans warehouse worth the price? #2 If I make my own, what steel do I want to use? It will be shot at with a 300 wsm and 300 weatherby. Thanks in advance.

I had to enforce rule no. 1 once. Only once. When the word got around I never had to worry about it again. I walked out, tapped on his window with my .357, and told him just how things were going to be. That was just how things were after that.

For Elk hunting I run thru Phoenix to Payson then up to Show low. Lots more traffic but good roads and fewer hills. An alternate would be I-10 to Eloy, Florence, Globe then the Young road. Less traffic, longer drive, but pretty.

Interesting fun fact. In the PAC 10/12 years Arizona has been to the sweet 16 -15 times. The most for all Pac teams. UCLA is second with 14. I didn't read down far eaough to find as who? Tell me about all the Rose bowl wins....oh right. sorry.

In a heartbeat. I've been lucky enough to get to chase bull elk 7 times and have never gotten a broadside shot. I've passed head on and tail on, no way I'd pass on that one.

I've been in a slump for the entire century. Started bowhunting Elk and Javi's in 2000. Haven't killed a darn thing. I just hit 63 so I don't know if I've got enough years left to get the job done, but I'm gonna keep trying until they throw dirt over me. Just closed out my 13th unsuccessful pig season. Never killed one with any weapon.

I hunt a different unit but have found pigs 1 out of the last 5 years. I'm 62 and still looking for my first kill. 10 years ago I had 3 shots the first day, not one since. Still I keep trying. I find a good area and a fire changes everything. Find another good spot and the fire Gods stick it to me again.

On the plus side, numbers of tags will go up, but sucess rates will go down until animal numbers are so low that they can justify canceling all hunting seasons. This band of commissioners has a bad agenda.

They sure looked a step slow during the first half. Might light a fire under their butt.
