    the way it should be

leaving elk lay over night is becoming more and more prevalent, especially in units like 27. I think people do it more and more often intentionally so they don't have to pack out so much meat. makes me sick. i have literally nearly hospitalized myself more than a time or two hauling elk out of the nasty with more weight on my back than i care to mention

    the way it should be

i don't think the point of the OP was to start a debate on whether or not to leave a wounded animal over night. It was about a couple guys (and gals) working their tail off through the night to get a bull out of a canyon when a lot of people would have just come back in the morning to pack it out and risk losing some meat to spoilage.
  5. Weird. Go to azgfd.gov. Great place to start

    6A newbie

Money and time spent in the field is money and time well spent, not wasted. Every hunt or trip to the woods is invaluable to learning to be a good and successful hunter. A lot of people (myself included) would have loved to get an elk tag this year, and wouldn't be "sad and depressed" if we didn't punch a tag. Pick your chin up, pull up your pants and take that slap that mother nature delivered on the chin with a grin.

That's why it's called hunting and not killing. Take what you learned and put it to use next time.

    Best ballistic app

What ballistic phone apps are you all using? Any of them that stand out above the rest? I have used the "Bullet Flight" app for years, but it seems to be getting outdated and behind the times.

Wtt for a small carry gun

I've had a P22 for quite a while. Jams once in a while. Nothin major though. I like it

    ISO PACK

I would be all over that deal. Just one packs are great, and do have a "frame" system. Hard plastic panel with aluminum rods. I have had over 200 lbs in one

    Thanks for nothing

We prefer the word "harvest" around here.

Way to get that dude outta the gene pool

    Wtb long range gun/rifle

He'a about 2 years to late to become proficient with a long range weapon before his hunt. Long range shooting is'nt as easy as picking up a rifle, dialing the turret and shooting

    Archery 27????

they stop sounding off when the season first starts because of the hundreds of hoochie mama calls sounding off
  18. GreyGhost85

    Archery 27????

when temperatures suddenly drop it seems to ignite the rut for some reason. i doubt if it has anything to do with pushing cows into estrous or anything, as that is most likely based on a specific time frame. For some reason the bulls really seem to feel froggy at the first freeze
  19. GreyGhost85

    Archery 27????

no sure why you can only hunt together if the rut has picked up? did i miss something?
  20. GreyGhost85

What Dec dates would you Hunt?

    Christmas to new years

    Archery 27????

27 can be tough, because there really aren't very many cows there, and a lot of the few that are in 27 migrate over to unit 1 in the rut, as do bulls. they like to rut in the flatter, easier to negotiate country. find areas where the country is a little easier, cows don't like living in the nasty canyons and burns like the bulls do, and the bulls will be near the cows.

    Tame bear?

That's a big bear. It irritates me sooo bad when people only judge a bear on "ear size". 300lbs+.

    Where's the elk in 2b?

In the cedars, walking on red dirt and sand
