I would be all over that deal. Just one packs are great, and do have a "frame" system. Hard plastic panel with aluminum rods. I have had over 200 lbs in one

We prefer the word "harvest" around here.

Way to get that dude outta the gene pool

He'a about 2 years to late to become proficient with a long range weapon before his hunt. Long range shooting is'nt as easy as picking up a rifle, dialing the turret and shooting
-
they stop sounding off when the season first starts because of the hundreds of hoochie mama calls sounding off

when temperatures suddenly drop it seems to ignite the rut for some reason. i doubt if it has anything to do with pushing cows into estrous or anything, as that is most likely based on a specific time frame. For some reason the bulls really seem to feel froggy at the first freeze
-
no sure why you can only hunt together if the rut has picked up? did i miss something?

What Dec dates would you Hunt?

Christmas to new years -
27 can be tough, because there really aren't very many cows there, and a lot of the few that are in 27 migrate over to unit 1 in the rut, as do bulls. they like to rut in the flatter, easier to negotiate country. find areas where the country is a little easier, cows don't like living in the nasty canyons and burns like the bulls do, and the bulls will be near the cows.

That's a big bear. It irritates me sooo bad when people only judge a bear on "ear size". 300lbs+.

In the cedars, walking on red dirt and sand

catfishing there is usually great at night anchored in pretty much any cove

If you run in to her, she'll be the one with a whole bull elk strapped to her pack jamming out to some Pat Benatar

AT&T Service Coverage in the White Mountains???

Verizon would be your best bet. Cell One might work better in some areas, but it is not very practical to have if you are not a resident of the areas they provide in -
How many use scent lock/blocker clothing?
GreyGhost85 replied to PelaPapas's topic in Other Hunting Gear
pick yourself up a set of the Kuiu Teton line for about the same price as scentblocker stuff. the pants are very durable and should go through catclaw and other nasty stuf just fine. -
a better topic might be "what units HAVEN'T you seen elk in"

How many use scent lock/blocker clothing?
GreyGhost85 replied to PelaPapas's topic in Other Hunting Gear
scentblocker clothing is a gimmick. buy hunting clothes for their comfort, durability and ability to keep you dry/warm/cool. up until this year, when rifle hunting, i have always hunted in a plaid pearl snap shirt and carhart canvas jeans. no animal could tell the difference in that or some fancy scentblock clothing. -
it's an auction buck, so it was shot by a rifle. wonder if he'll strip the velvet and get it scored official. velvet inflates scores by a lot
-
any idea if that buck is gonna score typical, or nontypical? looks like almost all of the points are typical, with the exception of a couple short kickers
-
Cactus bucks/bulls are supposed to phenomenal table fare. Like eating a wild steer.
-
Nice buck and congrats. Won't even breathe on 90" though. Sorry, just being honest. 82-84" is my guess
-
yup, if you're not concerned about size or weight, it's REALLY hard to beat the tried and true elkhunter bag

Bears and lions are probably the most "nomadic" big game animals in our state. they travel a long ways every day. some people say the last place you saw the bear should be the last place you look for him next time
