With the AZ draw really screwing things up for NM, do you all think there will be more or less applications there? NMGF and AZGFD kind of have a deal worked out so people will know whether or not they drew in AZ before they have to apply for NM.

you'd be hard pressed to find a spot in AZ elk country 5 miles from a road. i've packed a LOT of bulls and they are rarely over a mile it seems. The terrain does seem to make more difference than the distance. Possibly my worst pack out was a coues buck. my buddy left about half of his gear with me to go put a stalk on a buck. I ended up finding one in the opposite direction so i loaded up his gear and mine and went and shot the buck. Got caught in a nasty downpour that absolutely soaked me to the bone and my gear, clothes and pack turned into a giant sponge. the packout was probably about 2 miles but had to cross several fences and canyons. I weighed my pack when i finally got him back to the house it was around 130lbs. One of the worst elk packouts was shot across a canyon, only 500 yards from the road. the canyon was not one we could cross, especially with heavy packs. had to loop back around and come in from above him. it was only about a mile and a half but took us the rest of that evening and half of the next day to get him out.

am i seeing this right? the cost to operate is about 44 million and the took in 133 million? where is the other 90 million a year going? not to conservation and maintenance, that's for sure

they're starting. It is snowing right now in elk country. fresh snow always makes shed hunting easier. most bulls will probably shed between now and the first part of april

We need to be real concerned about Halaand being sworn in as well. you cannot be pro public land but anti firearms. The different groups that support her are extremely concerning as well. Make sure to support the right groups. some of her concerning supporters/donors are: Backcountry Hunters and Anglers (they need to go away), National Deer Association, NWTF, pope and young, whitetails unlimited, wildlife forever, Archery Trade Association, Ducks Unlimited.

$13 isn’t much but spread that, plus licenses across 5-7 species, plus another $5 for point guard for most of us, for multiple people in a household and it adds up fast. I spend around $300-$400 a year (between my gf and i) if we don’t get a single tag. Add a few otc tags (bear, lion, turkey, deer) and it jumps up to about $600-$700 a year.

Genetics do make big bulls but without food and water they can’t grow big antlers. When a bull that has 380" genetics goes from 360 to 310 to 380, is it genetics that makes him only go 310 in that particular year? If so, i’m still waiting on that year where my genetics make me go from 240lbs to 210lbs without any change in diet.

Took me a long time to find the progrssive press i finally got a few weeks ago and now i need some parts/dies. Looking for Hornady #8,#16 and #45 shell plates as well as 9mm/45acp dies. If anybody has any of these they’d be willing to part with, i’d be happy to trade or buy. I have a bunch of primers in pretty much all varieties as well as a bunch of different powders. I don’t care to sell any of them but would love to trade some for things that i need. Also, i could use some 9mm/45acp/223 brass.

209’s are about the only primer i don’t have. They seem like a hot commodity now but i don’t really shoot ml’s or shotguns much

I'm not sure on the legality either but you'd think someone would need to give you a date they are going to charge you so you can make sure the funds are in line. There are probably a lot of people who's cards expired at the end of the month and they didn't update them because they thought the charges would come
