I wish i had a brother without hunting rights that could run my cameras. Looks like you found a flip side to all his wrongdoings.

When i saw the poll, i expected it to be more on the keep em side. Keep the post up if you want. My heart is on one side and my brain is on the other. Give an inch and they’ll take a mile or take a step back towards what hunting is supposed to be?

The whole trail cam ban is a double edged sword for sure and I for one am torn. On one side, i realize that hunting has become something that it was not meant to be and technology must be limited for it to take a step back towards what it is supposed to be. On the other side, just like all the 2A arguments, everything we give back creates another step for further bans. Do we NEED trail cams? No. Do we NEED 1000 yard rifles? No. Do we NEED side by sides? No. If we give up any of them, what is next?

Love him or hate him, you have to admire his passion. G&F 100% reads this forum and someone needs to delete the trail cam poll post.

your situation worked out better than most. Glad he made things "right". Most of the time that does not happen with shady taxidermists

pretty sure that the people that oppose the tail cam ban the most (outfitters) have the money backing they need to lawyer up. Donating money for the cause will only put money in their pockets. A3 has a LOT of money behind them and probably the most at stake if the ban happens.

I watched an AK resident buy a kodiak brown bear tag over the counter for $25 when i was paying $300 for a blacktail tag a few weeks ago. I could get behind this idea.

He’s a beauty. Great job!

Is that a camp trailer? Nicer than my house

Holy cow. Well done!

Does anyone have any experience with these? supposedly they are not regulated like a suppressor but cut the noise down to a safe level. Sounds too good to be true to me but maybe not? Thinking about buying one to try it out but want to see if anyone else has any knowledge on them.

I shoot 130gn eld-m’s out of my .264WM at about 3400fps. They usually do not exit but have been absolutely deadly on a slew of deer. I would probably not shoot an elk with them though. Not that they probably wouldn’t work but I hunt elk with bigger calibers

my highlight so far. Kodiak island. Will do a write up at some point

If the deer is dead, did the bullet fail? I prefer rapid expansion on deer.

I recognize that drinker!

Trekking poles are a must for me anymore. Got tired of looking macho while rolling my ankles and falling all the time. Whatever you do, go with aluminum poles. The difference in weight on CF vs Aluminum is negligible and aluminum is a lot stronger. I’ve seen several sets of CF poles break and the result is ALWAYS a very nasty tumble because they break when they are under a lot of strain. Whatever you go with, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been using them for years. I’ve used cork as well as foam handles and can’t tell much of a difference. Kinda like a cork vs foam handle on a fishing rod, it is more preference than anything. My favorite pair are made by easton and they have foam handles. Been going strong for 6-8 years now without issue.

Read something yesterday that said that only 30% of hunters vote. There are supposedly 11.5 million of us in the US and a LOT of those numbers are in swing states. This is disappointing. Get out there and vote people. AZ is a big swing state this year. If the number of hunters that voted was up in the national average, it would really help us all. Crazy that a group of people with so much to lose due to our interests has such a small showing at the ballots. I'm sure some of this has to do with it falling smack-dab in hunting season but that isn't an excuse.

Bad taxidermists need to be put on blast. There is no room for them.

i killed a buck a couple years ago that i swore was like 110". He was similar to your big one. Lots of extras that were just under an inch, only 9 3/4" inside and only one eyeguard and it was only about an inch. Barely made it over 100" gross.

Unless they are now a convicted felon!
-
The buck on the left didn't break 100" when you measured him? man, you need a new tape measure! is he really narrow or something?
-
Take it easy bruh. He was probably just shocked that someone is asking HD price for SD glass.

Sent a scope off to leupold a few weeks ago (see my post about crossing ups off the list). They told me to expect 6-8 weeks for repair. I bought a replacement scope from cameraland and it literally arrived at the exact same time from the same carrier as my repaired scope. From the day i dropped it off at fedex until the time it was back in my hands was a little over a week. Now i have two identical scopes.
