I went again this weekend and did pretty well. Probably landed 30 small mouth on Saturday. Not as many as some days but the quality was better than usual. I caught 10-12 that were 16”+ a couple were 20” or a little better.

I use an adapter the hooks my phone to my glassing tripod. Weighs basically nothing and i don’t have to pack another tripod -
Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep 6a/22 vs 27/28 Late Hunts
GreyGhost85 replied to Heat's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Do you have MAX BP? if not, i wouldn't lose sleep over which one you apply for. Both are good, both have slim to none chances of drawing without max -
I like the 20-70 zoom personally. If i used it for "glassing" I would probably go for the 20-60WA, but for a quick look to try and decide whether the buck is 95" or 105", it is hard to beat the 70x. also takes great digiscoping photos. I sold my zeiss 15-45x65, which was a great spotter but I much prefer the meopta, although it is pretty big and heavy.

I think they have to have 3-points or less on one side? No positive though. Wish i could help, i know nothing about it. I’m sure it will be a blast but 16bp’s for a management hunt seems crazy? Gotta love the Utah draw system.

I’ve got the cabelas instict rebranded Meopta S2 I’d probably sell. Probably the best spotter for for the money. The 70x super zoom is great. Definitely better than the 3 you listed

Mounting brackets for dual big eye spotter set ups
GreyGhost85 replied to CatfishKev's topic in The Campfire
this. somebody in Prescott was making them. Maybe DM Kevin Passmore. For some reason i think i remember him having something to do with the outfit that was manufacturing them. Not sure if they still make them though. The BTX probably put a big hit on that market -
I'm guessing he was a racist and womanizer as well. What a joke. If the guy was the "serial horse shooter" she believed he was, would he have stuck around to talk to the police?

I understand what you are trying to do, and greatly appreciate your concern on raising funds to keep more auction and raffle tags out of Arizona. I am sure G&F and sneaky Pete would be licking their chops at the idea of more banquets and that is not what we need. All logical options of raising money presented to G&F have been shut down, including simple license fee increases or "stamp ideas" because they don't want to place a "financial burden" on hunters. I'm sorry, but $3-$5 would not place a burden on ANY Arizona hunters these days. Hunting for 99.999% of people in Arizona is not just a way of procuring meat or any form of subsistence living like it can be in other places. I'm going out on a limb but i would be willing to bet if G&F would allow people to get their draw results a week or two earlier than the general public for an additional $5, a LOT of people would gladly pay it. It could be an extra box you click when applying that ensures your draw results will get emailed to you by "X date" and you wouldn't have to mess with your portal account or anything. I for one would not pay the fee but i bet a lot would.

There are a handful of bulls in that hunt that are legitimately over 320" but not a lot. It is mostly an opportunity hunt. ABSOLUTELY do not pass a 320" bull, especially with not knowing much about the hunt or unit. it is a very crowded hunt but there are a lot of elk. Honestly, i would shoot the first decent 6-point that allowed me to get a shot off. I've been on that hunt a couple times and most of the "mature" bulls are 260-300" 6-points.

That's too bad man. I feel bad for you. Sometimes it's almost harder than losing a family member. My bloodhound is getting old and i get a lump in my throat just thinking about that dreadful day. Keep your chin up. looks like you have a good pack to carry on his memory though.

Yeah, that’s a hard no for me. We are fighting to keep AZ away from having a banquet raffle/auction like Utah has. Having a banquet just for the standard draw would be a small foot in the door. How many tags are issued through the draw in AZ? The banquet would have to last for a week.

What kind of shape are the lenses in? Look pretty rough in the photos

have you tied hunttalk.com ?. there is an ongoing thread on the unlimited hunts there with a lot of information. Many of the contributors on it have killed sheep on those hunts.

good luck in your search. From what I have been seeing the last few years, construction isn't a "young man's" industry anymore. We have been actively trying to hire people for over a year now. I would say the average applicant is 50 years old. about 1 out of 10 people we hire in their 20's turn out to be a good hand. We pay VERY well with awesome benefits and can't give away jobs

Yeah, i love seeing unit 1 go to a draw. Too much potential in that unit.

Brandon’s a good guy. He’s done a few mounts for us and they look good. We’ve been friends with his family for a long time.

one crossing was bad. i'm a little over 6'4" and it was nipples deep and running fast. washed me downstream about 30' before i caught myself. i'm guessing by this weekend though it will be a lot more manageable.

Ethics police, comin in hot. Give it to G&F so they can auction it. The millions in app fees plus the “education fund” and upcoming tag grab aren’t quite cutting it these days.

well, as expected, the river was running big and fishing wasn't very good. ended up catching enough catfish for a couple of good fish fries but the bass bite was non existent. The water was running too hard to control your bait. as soon as I'd cast, my bait would wash 50' downstream. the water clarity wasn't terrible. 2-3 more weeks and it should be good. I did see 3 coues bucks, one of which was probably pushing 100", and they were all still packing antlers. seems a little late
