I have hunted solo a lot. I like it. Gives a man some time to find out a lot about himself and clear your mind. Something about not talking for a week and not listening to anyone elses problems does wonders for me in figuring out my own problems.

Yeah, ive never been concerned about the couple hours in the evening after the hunt. Im usually so exhausted, all i wanna do is eat a quick dinner and crash. Hunt harder so you dont care about the after hunt rituals. Im there to hunt, not just go on a camp out with friends. You can do that the other 51 weeks in a year

Well, after ending my coues hunt quickly i was able to do some serious mule deer scouting. Found this buck monday before the hunt started and lost him. Opening morning we were going in to try to shoot the #2 buck and this one had moved about 3 miles into the same canyon as #2. Made a great shot at 480 yards and anchored him. His short beams really hurt his score, but he will still push into the 170s. Really old, big bodied buck.

I saw a big bull (370”+) rutting hard and pushing 15 cows on saturday. Seemed a little late

I’ve got the liver in the freezer. I caped him in the field. No vertebrae attached. His skull has been sitting on the porch a couple days now. Probably not worth much to g&f at this point. My own theory, he has some kinda liver disease that stunted his growth. He’s pretty old, teeth are worn down almost to the gum line. He’s pretty tough and really strong tasting. Hope i don’t turn into a zombie.
