Are there any rams left there?
-
I would imagine it plays out a lot like shooting a mule deer in coues season or vice versa or accidentally shooting an animal of the wrong gender. Difference is, killing a sow with cubs not only kills the sow but the cubs as well. Usually results in confiscation of animal and often a loss of hunting privileges
-
If every bear walking in thick brush has a cub somewhere near it, then yes.
-
This. How could it be any other way???Exactly. There is no grey area in this law. It is black and white. Sow without cubs. Period. ^this! There is no what if or grey area. I think G&F should make people wait 3 years or something before they hunt again if they check in a sow in the first place. It would certainly make people spend a little more time looking the bear over and would eliminate a lot of the people shooting bears you couldn't make a hat out of. I have killed one bear, a respectable +-250lb boar with a bow. No desire to kill another one unless it is a great big boar, like this one that i get on my camera once or twice a year.

Deer creek is probably your best bet but it's a long ways back in there and it gets very crowded. They need to cut the tags in half there since they cut the huntable land in half. We used to do good hunting long hollow and rattlesnake. Such a shame. -

I shot a javelina with a 20 gn vmax out of my .17 fireball. Not much penetration at all, but a bullet that small going over 4,000 fps won't have much. I probably couldn't get a pass through on a sparrow with it -
They shoot them in the velvet because once they go hard horned they wander off. Velvet bulls are very predictable and much easier to get on the ground

Looking for a little help finding the bucks
GreyGhost85 replied to broadhead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Most of the bucks i've seen in the last few weeks are bedding really early. As soon as the sun peaks, they are on a mad dash for bed. Especially the mature ones. Might be why you're not seeing any -
Plenty of much better options in the $1000 range than vortex like others are saying. I have a burris veracity 5-25 and really like it for under $1000. Also put a vx3i 4-14 cds on my lightweight rifle that i am really liking

Nice buck. Who did the taxidermy?

I've been shooting the prvi 69gn hollow points lately. Sub moa out of my AR, which is shocking. They are pretty cheap as well -
There is no migration to speak of until the rut/snow starts. Unless you hit the jackpot and drew the december hunt, the mule deer are spread put pretty even throughout the unit.

^^. I've seen em alive and dead around gonzales pass right off the 60

I would go with a 6" and 35's. Price for the lift should be about the same. The only way to gain clearance is bigger tires. Not much point in spending +- 2k to get a lift kit installed if you only gain around an inch of clearance. I had a 7.5" lift and 35's on my 2009 chevy. Looked great

Many thanks @Firstcoues

As if Casey's head wasn't already too big....can't wait for the stories of those hunts. Very envious -
*their Irony?

You're probably close to an early kaibab tag or 3a/3c i would think. Maybe even something like 17 or 20c december. All mid-tier hunts i would say with a good shot at getting a nice 4-point

I would like to hear more about the buckeye cams as well

Tag #20. Might have drawn a December coues tag finally. Probably not though
