The victim is a good friend of mine. Talked to his brother in person today. The real story is absolutely insane. Good thing the guy was a bad shot. Still cannot believe what happened and that he was not hurt

The one I bought for my girlfriend is a real shooter as well. Right at 1/2" at 100 with factory 120eldm. Figure it's cheaper than reloading and hard to beat 1/2". Cool little rifles for the price

Helinox Chair for Glassing?
GreyGhost85 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
This one looks pretty cool. I like the idea of not having to be on level ground. https://www.rei.com/product/846402/alite-monarch-butterfly-chair -
I've never had it but it's gotta be better than javelina.

Helinox Chair for Glassing?
GreyGhost85 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Although i may be acting defiantly, i would definitely like to take one for a test a drive. Look pretty cool. I rarely glass from level ground though it seems -
That's still a lot of growth! Thanks for posting. Makes me excited to go check my cams and put the rest out

I've seen em packin antlers till nearly june (small bucks usually) but never that kind if growth by then. Could be a cactus buck? Either way, lets see those pics!

3 points on each beam on 5/22? That's like 2 months ahead of what i ever see. Post some pics please

That's too bad. I stopped appying and only buying bonus points for buff until they get that fiasco straightened out. Every year someone posts a near identical post to yours about attempting to do it unguided.

People shoot cubs and post their pics on here every year. Just don't get it

I've got upwards of 10k pics on batteries alone.

Could be a snake, or a pair of snakes.

Ask for Jared there. He'll treat you right. Been a good friend for years and has unreal archery knowledge

Like the title says, Grizzly bears have been delisted in Wyoming. I doubt we see hunts for them any time soon, due to the lawsuits that will surely follow but this is a big step. Looks like when hunts are finally conducted, the plan is to charge a $6000 tag fee for nonresidents. Montana and Idaho will likely be able to delist them soon and the proposed tag fees for those states are much less.

Whats the longest youve left an Elk in the field
GreyGhost85 replied to trphyhntr's topic in Elk Hunting
I don't know if bones have anything to do with spoilage so to speak. The deepest, thickest tissue goes first (takes longer to cool off), which happens to be where bones lie. -

I too have spent a lof of time in butcher shops. They sour first in the dense muscle areas. Sour meat is basically a bacteria so one small spot spreads fast. Between the shoulders, "armpits" and hind quarters go first. If i keep the bone in, i split the hams to the bone to release heat. If the animal is hung whole, i split between the shoulders to the bone, split the armpits till the front quarters are barely attached, then split the hinds. I usually use little sticks to pry open the cuts to let that cool air penetrate. Amazing how some people "take care" of meat. Seen quarters stuffed in black trash bags in august -
Let's narrow this 6.5 chamber down (help)

Only difference i've noticed is sc is a lot easier to load. Regular h4831 single granules of powder weigh almost 1/10 of a grain -

Elk sour quick, no matter how cold it is if the guts are left inside. Seen bulls turn over night on cold late hunts a few times when not gutted. I left my biggest bull over night, but gutted him first and he was fine. The whole "leave it and come back in the morning" thing is bogus when it comes to elk. I would think 4-6 hours on an early hunt would spoil one -

To get 3,120 fps Im using H1000 60.5 g I got faster speeds up to 3200 fps with other powders such as H4831 but im at a 1" grouping ( still very good) but I wanted high velocity and under 1/2 MOA. I got .60 MOA with a light load of 57 grains at 2,963 fps which is really good with only 57 grains Im going to try Reload 23 later on to see what velocity I can get but for this year Im sticking with H1000 60.5g with Federal 210 match. Funny I was using CCI 250 and I was flattening out primers like crazy. Federal 210 still had round edges I gotcha. That's honestly a very comparable powder charge/velocity i am getting. I'm shooting 62 grns 4831sc at about 3150fps -
I was in yuma workin today. It was 123° from gila bend to dateland. Dropped down to a nice 118° when i got into yuma

Funny this was brought up. Night and day difference how i am treated when i am alone compared to when the gf is with me. I could get away with anything when she is there

Impressive ballistics out of the 6.5x270ai. Almost identical to my .264, which probably shoots a lot more powder. -
I got scolded like a child for putting a sand bag on my paper targets when a dust devil hit to keep them from flying away, during a "cold range" last weekend. smh.

Couple of smokers. Hopefully we get another good storm or two in the next couple weeks to finish the tops as strong as the fronts

Young bull, tons of potential. Will finish out around 330"-340" is my guess
