Been there done that. The local archery shops (which i support fpr all my archery needs) don't really even carry crossbows. You are luxky if they have one or two models. 99% of the time i pass on cabelas and basspro, but if a guy needs to put his hands on a bunch of different crossbows at one place, they are your best bet.
-
honestly, your best bet would be basspro/cabelas. i know their employees, especially in the archery department, have next to zero knowledge on anything but they at least of a fair selection of crossbows. once you settle on one, i would look at the crossbow classifieds on archerytalk. a lot of people treat crossbows like compounds, buying a new one every year and selling their year-old basically new one for about half the price of new

I've got a lot of friends, but if one called me a "f@ggot" there would be problems. That's not a friendly jab

Wow. $hit just got real. Looks like we found the culprit

i just bought a set of wheels and tires for my dodge 2500. i got the nitto terra grappler G2's and 18" wheels. tires are metric sized but basically a 34.5"x11.5". i started buying all my tires from Superior Tire Wholesale in phoenix. they have beat everybody's price by quite a bit. i think my tires were a little over $1000 for all 4. My wheels are Fuel brand so they aren't cheap, but they beat all the prices i could find by about $50 a wheel too. i would definitely look into them

That bull's skull looks like an elk/bulldog hybrid. Poor sucker really broke the heII out of his face somehow
-
I have 2 big bulls mounted like that with 9' ceilings. Not only can you get them up higher, but that is my favorite pose

Really wish this was in the 6.5 variety. Great rifles

I have the same cooler. It's an awesome piece of equipment. Has bull elk hind quarters in it right now

Just got off big lake in a blizzard. 25° and blowing snow. 3 of us caught 10 trout from 17-20". Stringer is over 20lbs. Winter is definitely here

Just got back from a very successful mule deer hunt. Helped a group take 3 mature bucks in 3 days. Anyways, it seems like every single hunter you talk to has a rifle that they deem "good to a thousand". is anyone else running into this? i heard more shooting in 3 days than i have in the past 3 years. NOBODY would try to get close animals. the country we were hunting is big and most of the canyons are 6-800 yards across. people drive down the road, hop out of their side by side and proceed to empty their gun. bucks running at 800 yards and still flinging lead. i glassed a nice buck that had been hit by someone after our group was all tagged out so i flagged down a hunter and asked him if he would like to shoot it. The buck was i think 1068 yards away and would have been very easy to close the gap and shoot him at 2-300 yards. the hunter looked at the buck and ranged it and said " i only have hold overs to a thousand" "if he was 60 yards closer i could kill him"...shocking to say the least. what happened to getting as close as possible? I've made my fair share of far shots, but only after still getting as close as possible. i must have talked to 10 different people that have rifles that are "good to a thousand". My brother made a nice comparison to all these people. "It's like buying a pair of Michael Jordan's shoes and expecting to slam dunk a basketball". Maddening to say the least. I had a few words for the man that refused to stalk in and kill the wounded buck.

My dad got one recently (full shoulder replacement). G&F website has a document you print off and take to your doctor or chiropractor to fill out. Take the completed form to G&F office and they'll cut you a crossbow permit right there. Pretty easy process

Looks like a 200lb deer? Congrats. Is that possibly a hybrid? Looks like his g2 on the left has a muley fork too? Either way, awesome buck -
If you just want a cheap AR, they are as inexpensive to buy assembled as building it yourself. That being said, you can build a top of the line AR for a lot less than buying a pre assembled one. A few months ago i built a sweet AR for about $700 (minus optics). Look at AXC tactical in north mesa. They had better prices and more selection than anyone. Here is the one i built

My parents have about an acre apple/pear orchard at their ranch. On good apple years, it has a steady stream of bears, javelinas, deer, foxes, skunks, everything. in the winter when food is scarce javlelinas swarm the alfalfa that is thrown out to the horses. Can't harldy run them off. Hypothetical question, this is private property so it probably doesn't matter regardless but could a person legally hunt over apples that have naturally fallen to the ground? pretty much the same thing as shooting a deer on a corn or alfalfa field i would think.

I prefer Ross. That being said i recently bought a Halon 6 from Archery Headquarters. I am not a Mathews guy and shot every single new bow and the Halon was my favorite by far

Bump for under rated glass. I, and most people that have used these agree that these are better than the non HD swaros, both the old olive green ones and the NEU version. They are second only to the new swaro HD's.

Yeah.....not poaching. Just speculation, but i really doubt the perp is just going to "come clean" on this forum.

Man. Can't believe my topic is still goin. Gotta be my new record. It was originally started for people that have no business shooting 200 yards, much less 1000. I am a long range shooter. Guilty. I practice a lot and am very confident at long ranges. It just bothers me that every Tom, Dick and Harry thinks they are Chris Kyle nowadays. This thread wasn't to bash those that truly are proficient killers at long distances, but to see if people are seeing a trend now where everybody thinks they are proficient killers at 1,000 yards. If i can gain an edge using trail cams, long range rifles and big optics, i am going to until law prevents me from doing so. Just wish more people would put in as much time and effort as some of do to practice and make consistent, clean kills.
