Huh? Full velvet?

I just bought a new halon because my 2009 x-force gx had the string roll off the cams for the second time. I like the way my x-force shoots better than this new mathews, but it's growing on me. Not much difference though

Elk hunting in Grizzly country, which pistol?
GreyGhost85 replied to Cell4soul's topic in The Campfire
i have a hard time believing a charging grizzly would know much difference when he was hit a full mag f 45 acp +p rounds or a big bore handgun. take the 1911, save some money and relax. there is a recent video floating around of a fishing guide that dumped a huge brown bear with his 9mm when it charged his client. -
there is an asian market on dobson and elliot called LeeLee. they have aquariums full of live dungeness crabs and also have live blue crabs most times. i like dungeness the best and hard to beat the freshness of a live crab. they are usually about $7 a pound and the big ones weigh around 3lbs.

Why not use 3 peeps and try to stretch it to 200 yards? Adding a second d loop will throw your bow waaaaay out of tune. If you don't plan on using the old redneck dink and dunk double peep for hunting any ways, then why opposed to a slider for "target practice"?

Ground squirrels, good eats?
GreyGhost85 replied to CatfishKev's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
They eat about the same as tree squirrels from what i've been told -
27 is my stompin grounds. has been for a LOOONG time. PM me with any questions (other than honey holes) and I'll be glad to help you. the tackle shop doesn't have much at all as far as archery or hunting gear so make sure your bow is ready to go and have a backup if possible. Western Drug in springerville has a pretty good selection of hunting/archery supplies and could probably get you out of a pinch if you needed something. the tackle shop in Alpine is open year round and is a standard gas station for the most part. sells food, ice, beer, gas. the standards. there are a couple pretty good restaurants in Alpine to recharge your batteries when you need it. Alpine village is your best bet for showers and laundry. i have stayed there many times. nice place, good management. there is even a fish cleaning station there that works very well for cleaning up meat. Alpine has really good cell service, but it's an island for cell service more or less. the best place outside of alpine to make a phonecall is near Josh Ranch. with verizon you always have a couple bars right there. if you are interested in getting an animal hauled out, i would call some of the outfitters up there and ask if they offer a pack service. trophy outfitters, premium hunts, hunt hard outfitters, gastineau outfitters, pack n horns, trophy ridge outfitters all outfit out of Round Valley or Alpine and most if not all of them have a pack string or two.

The muzzle brake on that rifle is adjustable and can be open or closed. It's basically a sleeve over the end that when twisted one way, opens up the ports and the other way it closes them. So if you don't like the brake, just leave it closed

enough with the charade man. post some pics already

It's funny. they transplanted the Greer herd from Morenci because there were too many standing all over the roads. they drop them off in south fork and they walk up the canyon to the highway and stand in the road. funny animals for sure.

I'm glad i wasn't the one that had to say it. driving roads and taking hail marys until you finally connect is not exactly the right way to go about hunting. probably should have left the first part of the story out.

That is a really cool post. Thanks for sharing

I would disagree here. E=m(v*v). I know there is a strong stance and arguments against weighing sectional density into the equation, but SD is in direct correlation to mass. Heavy bullets for caliber will produce higher BC bullets. Higher BC bullets mean sustained velocity over distance and improved terminal energy on target. Math or holes? I'll take holes. You can take the formula... If you shoot enough stuff, you'll realize the energy BS is just that... Holes kills stuff, not energy... my 338 lapua says otherwise

i'm thinking 320 frame and that sweet extra. somewhere in the ballpark of 340 i would guess

Under Armour pisses off hunting community
GreyGhost85 replied to Curtis Reed's topic in The Campfire
So, that dude was out there for the meat? That's what it was? He did it because he isn't a trophy hunter? Homeboy did it because he's rich and got bored with shooting baited animals with a bow so he decided he should try to spear a baited bear. Plain and simple. To each their own, but he knew what he was getting himself into. And fyi, standing next to an animal's food bowl does not take skill........ -

Since when did spearing a baited animal become cool? I absolutely do not think that anything i don't do is retarded. Spearing a baited bear? Jumping around like an idiot when you do spear a baited animal? He set himself up for social media failure from the get go here. "Fricken awesome"? lol. Get real bruh. There are bears in the zoo that would be harder to kill than that thing. -

Good thing i wear kuiu. I don't agree with UA here, but spearing a baited bear is retarded. It was effective, but still. Have you ever thought when you were hunting "man, I'd sure like to dump out a pile of bait and spear an animal"? -
Good Luck to all you hunters tomorrow...
GreyGhost85 replied to Stallone A.'s topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Checked 5 cameras this evening. All my coues are VERY far behind. Really, really strange. -
most decent 3x3 bucks with eye guards will score 70. this buck i shot about 7-8 years ago scored right around 70 if i remember right
-
hahaha. i knew i would get that response

i have in the past sprinkled a little bird seed in front of the blind. watching birds and squirrels fight over it keeps me somewhat entertained on long days
-
Sounds like someone needs to share some trail cam pics! I'm headed up thursday afternoon for 3 days in a ground blind.

i would say you definitely want to run E rated tires on anything bigger than a half ton, especially on diesel trucks. i always run them on half tons as well. i would imagine tire life would be terrible on a D rated tire on a 3/4 ton truck
-
i spend a lot of time in a ground blind. do yourself a favor and just get a comfortable chair that doesn't squeak when you move around. the ones that are sold specifically for ground blind hunting are terrible if you plan on spending more than a couple hours in the blind.

i've had spots get ravaged by lions too. it's a bad deal. not much you can do about it. lions will sometimes figure out that deer are hitting salt licks and wait on them like they do water holes. when maintaining my salt licks this summer, one of them had a big lion turd full of deer hair right in the middle of it.
