What's the deal with RUM brass
GreyGhost85 replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
338 lapua brass is still easy to get. If you're stuck on a 30 cal cannon why not a 300 lapua? -
Sly critter there for sure. Looks like he gotta outta there in the nick of time

Does anyone with 10-11pts want to put in together?
GreyGhost85 replied to trphyhntr's topic in Elk Hunting
Will it really be a 340", or a 300" that you say is 340"?? -
I agree. Looks like a shoe. I have a pair that leave almost the identical print

Returning tag for reinstatement of bonus points
GreyGhost85 replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
The point creep will get out of hand. People at the top of the list with BP's can essentially draw every year and return their tag if they don't find "the one" while scouting they'll turn the tag in. This will keep people that should have been in the bonus pass, out of it. Don't like the idea at all unless it is a one time deal or something. -
They should be near identical to amax load charts. Perfect place to start
-
Good on ya for helping out. Sorry, but wish the tag would have gone to someone more deserving.

yup. ungulates do not have upper front teeth. great write up, awesome job. congrats

Broad head weight for a low poundage bow?
GreyGhost85 replied to metau's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Shoot a good fixed broadhead and no less than 350gn total arrow weight, including the broadhead. I would shoot a heavy arrow with a lot of weight on the end to help with penetration -
I have the same rifle and reload with a standard press. I have RCBS gold medal dies that allow you to feed the bullet through a slot in the side of the seating die.

it is actually quite common. i imagine it would be a huge nuisance to the deer though. i have seen it a lot of times. i may be wrong, but think it is actually bot fly larva

Well done. Hunting with a recurve is a blast

List of successful hunters, scores, etc
GreyGhost85 replied to azelkhunter69's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
http://azgfdportal.az.gov/PortalImages/files/hunting/HuntAZ/HuntAZbook2015Rev2.pdf doesn't list the hunter names, but here ya go. scroll down to page 141 for sheep scores -
Yeah, antelope draw odds are discouraging to say the least. With 18bp only have about a 2% draw increase over someone with 0bp, for rifle hunts

Hate to break it to you, but apples and pears will be looong gone this time of year

Nice job! Did your wife shoot her's in the head, or did he get gored by another buck?

Yeah, page 15 is pretty interesting. Seems like people can be ticketed for really anything G&F doesn't like at the given time

Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!
GreyGhost85 replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
It doesn't bother me one bit! Don Martin Arizona Wildlife Outfitters 928-303-9481 Doesn't bother you? your post clearly shows it does. Of course he is your friend. 2072 was a bill that would have lined a lot of outfitter's pockets, including your's Cap'n. -
After a lot of load development, i settled on the 285 A-Max out of my lapua. Problem is, Hornady Discontinued them with the arrival of their new ELD bullet. anyone have any i can buy, or know where i can get them? Man, this is frustrating

i came across a very interesting release the other day that i am going to try. it is called a SCAT release. terrible name, i know. it basically has an adjustment that changes how long it is from the time you release the sear until the release actually goes off. absolutely no way to punch the trigger and it surprises you every single time it goes off. seems like it would be a more effective hunting release that a back tension or carter evolution

Didn't you know? smiling in kill photos is for sissies anymore! couple of great animals taken on a couple of great tags. good job to the hunters
