    Rotomold Coolers

I had to know so I asked Canyon direct, where their coolers are made? Pro series are made in Prescott. Outfitter series are made in Thailand.

    Rotomold Coolers

Coolers are at a different level than they were 10 years ago! Your going to find the Ol' Dodge vs Ford vs Chevy on this one! They are all nice and better than the old igloo's that everyone has historically used. I have Canyons and RTIC's. I will say this CANYON coolers are MADE IN ARIZONA!!! They make a great cooler and I like their business model and costumer service. They also partner with some great companies. Precool and use frozen jugs for bulk ice and you'll be happy with whatever you get!

Input wanted - Hunting with a 10 year old

Lots of good info here! Including them in all the aspects of the hunt are important. They need to be part of it and struggle a bit, but most importantly they have fun!! We just got back from a youth hunting trip, there were two things I noticed that we could have done different this past season that would have made a big difference. 1. Make sure their hunting/hiking boots fit and are comfortable. Worst thing you can do is let them put old boots on from last season or hand me downs that don't fight right. Have them break them in or even wear their shoes to school before the hunt. One way to ruin the hunt quickly is with sore feet. Sportsman's or Big 5 are great places to look for kids hiking boots. 2. Make sure they can shoot in different positions and are comfortable with shooting. Nothing worse than having to track a wounded animal. After all this is one part of the hunt that has little margin for error. Accuracy is paramount when hunting.....even with kids!! Also, Camping in a group or letting them take a sibling cousin or friend can make it a lot more enjoyable.

    New pack recommendation?

Here's a small sample of the adventures I have used the Kuiu 7200 on in the past few years............gonna be pretty hard to convince me there is a better built lighter pack out there. Cinches down small enough for "day" hunts. I've got a 7200 and a 5200 picked them both up off this site for $250 each in like new condition. Nice thing about the 7200, you hardly ever have to strap gear onto the outside of it, makes for quick packing and an even load.

    New pack recommendation?

I've had the Outdoorsmans optic pack. I loved it other than it was a little on the heavy side empty and it squeaked really bad (i sold it before i broke it in). Frame was a little big for my torso I'm 5'5" medium build. For a big guy I'd for sure look at this pack closely. nice packs! I sold the Outdoorsmans and bought a Kuiu Icon Pro 7200. Been running it for several years and don't have any big complaints other than fabric and zippers could be a little more durable. But I've abused mine for the last 4 seasons and its still usable. Rides great if you balance weight, and can hold more gear and meat than you can carry. I actually just picked up a slightly used 5200 on this website, I'll run it this year. (you can find good deals)! I've had (have) an Eblerstock pack. It's OK....... not really in the high-end category in my opinion. If you do one or two hunts a year they will work. But if you go hauling heavy loads for more than a few consecutive days you're going to want something a little more substantial with a stiffer frame. Can't speak for Kifaru, never owned one but they look rugged....not sure how they ride or what the pocket configuration is like. I'm wondering when Marsupial is going to come out with a pack......... they pretty much nailed it with the bino harness!

    Saguaro Lake

You’d think the feds would follow what the State is doing and open up these recreational areas, but who knows???? Seems to me if you can go to the gym and movie theater, you should be able to put your boat in at the lake.

    The giddy bro-man

You know if you look at the hunter success on OTC hunts, I would bet that the harvest success vs the number of tags sold and deer taken is so low that the AZGFD will have no reason to cut tags or regulate this hunt differently. They could give a dang about the hunt pressure, as long as the deer harvest numbers aren't getting out of hand. More tags sold (especially nonresident tags!!!) equals more revenue for the department. I call him "Grip N Grin Gritty". I used to listen to his podcast early on back when he was still learning, when he had Snyder on a lot. But lately I have no use for Gritty or his content. He' a classless sell out. As for the all the hype on the OTC Deer hunt...…...Guess someone needs to submit a legitimate complaint and solution to the commissioners. Otherwise just we can just pipe down, look for harder to get places to hunt...………... and put small rocks in the air valve caps of all the out of state hunters who flood AZ in January.

When did arrows get so crazy expensive??

You get what you pay for when it comes to hunting gear..... including arrows. I used to shoot the basic Sportsman’s Vital T arrows or whatever they are like $70 per dozen. Seemed like I was always having flyers and looking for lost arrows a lot. Struggling to get better...... I started drinking the Dudley cool aid bought a jig and started building arrows. There was a learning curve when I started, but after about 2 dozen I started getting the hang of it and can now make a consistent quality batch. I shoot Easton axis 5mm with brass inserts and AAE Max Hunter veins (4fletch). Material cost is about $13 per arrow, that’s b4 I screw a broad head on. About $18 per shot on animals. One thing I think is very important is a heavy front of center. The weighted inserts helped just as much as good shafts. I loose way less arrows because I don’t miss the target as much. I’ve had less missed and more kills, partially because I’m shooting better quality more consistent arrows. You get what you pay for.
