Spoken for........Pending Pick Up.

If you can wait I'd suggest going to the Kuiu mobile showroom in October.

Seems like we always get a winter storm around Christmas (Late December and January). Make sure you have some good rain gear and a place to get out of the rain and warm up. With rain gear and lightweight warm gear you usually get what you pay for. I'd take note of what guides are wearing in cold places like Alaska and sheep hunting in Canada. Kuiu or Kryptek would be my first choices.

The only thing I don't like about them is when maneuvering through manzanita and thick scrub oak (any thick vegetation). Seems like they are more hassle than a benefit. Great for heavy loads with no brush or on trails. I caught a lot of shoot from my hunting partner and still do........"he's too" cool to use them!

I just bought the Vanguard Alta CA 233AT with the PH-30 head. Cant beat the weight stability and motion of the head for the price. On sale at Sportsmans and online for $89. Glassed a couple times with Swaro 15's and setup works great. Side Bar: Kind of weird when looking into these Vanguard tripods because they have so many models that are similar but have different heads, slight changes to the feet and legs. The box said it was a Alta CA 233AO, but the actual tripod was an AT. I specifically wanted the rubber feet not the balls with spikes, also wanted the PH-30 head vs the newer plastic design that they are putting on them. Legs on this model will spread wide like they should!

Tac, Edge and anyone else who has their OWN opinion on American Wilderness you all need to listen to MeatEater Podcast #72 titled American Wilderness. Tac, I get what you are saying about your way of getting around is on tires and that's fine, but tires aren't meant for OUR lands that were set aside as "Wilderness". Please listen to Steve and his guest with an open mind. Sorry to hijack the OP. JS

I have been using a couple for watching the gates at our gravel pits for the past couple of years. Carrier is HCO Outdoors, call service is through Verizon. Each camera costs about $400, and about $30/month for the data plan and the service through HCO. They take 12 AA batteries that last about 5 months. I have had good luck with them can change settings right from my computer pretty slick. As far as service goes they work better than making a call on a cell phone, basically if you have one bar on your phone and can get a text out they will work. I bought mine through Mike Harris south of Tucson, he is a dealer and I believe he sells to the Border Patrol as well, they use them to track known trails that the drug smugglers use. If anyone wants to get in touch with him send me a PM.

Whats the longest youve left an Elk in the field
AZ_SAWBUCK replied to trphyhntr's topic in Elk Hunting
There is one in every crowd! I know the OP asked about early hunts.....but. On a late hunt in 2014 I shot a bull at dark and didn't get to it until 9 AM the next morning. Broke the bull down boned out the meat and packed out what we could that day. Went in the next day and packed out the remainder of the meat. Elevation was about 5K daytime temps in the 60's and nighttime temps below freezing. Didn't loose any meat and didn't get sick............that was until the kids left the freezer cracked 6 months later and I lost 1/2 the meat, but that was a different kind of sick and a different story. Figured this post needed a little opposition. Don't get me wrong. I agree with everyone on here about gutting / skinning and cooling as fast as possible! -
The owner of SW ATV in STV also does work on bows and can accommodate any archery needs. Super good dudes. He is a Vortex dealer as well. Located just north of Ocotillo in-between Signal Butte and Ironwood. southwestatv.com

New Bow Setup - Looking for Opinions
AZ_SAWBUCK replied to AZDirtyTaco's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
NEED MORE INFO!!! What Kind of Bow did you get? What did you do with your old bow? Poundage you shoot? What elevations your hunting?.......GPS locations are close enough. What kind of camo you are planning to wear? Does your camo and bow match? What arrows match your paint job on the bow the best? What arrows look cooler when you post groups on Instagram? Do you have a hunting partner? If so can you share pictures of her holding your new bow? Are you shooting fixed or mechanical? If your shooting fixed why aren't you shooting mechanical? Lots more important factors to look at other than arrow weight! Good Luck DirtyTaco! I'd shoot the heavier ones! -
Welcome to CW! I'd suggest taking the GMU Map taping it to the wall and throwing a dart at it! MD are found almost everywhere in AZ. When selecting a unit you really need to ask yourself other questions first. What kind of terrain do you want to hunt? Type of weapon, Time of year, hunting pressure your willing to deal with? Draw odds ect.... There is a ton of information offered on the G&F site under "where to hunt" and believe it or not its usually a good place to start. Look at the regs. for draw odds and hunt success for more insight. But confirming a Honey Hole is only done by either "Boots on the Ground" or scouring FB, Instagram and websites like this, in search of good background in grip and grin photos that confirm a good spot! Hope this helps!

wild/feral pigs in AZ where can i find some on public land?
AZ_SAWBUCK replied to plee911's topic in Other Big Game
I have heard that there are Ferrell hogs along the Colorado near Topock. I would recommend starting with the G&F that handles that area. Also know a rancher who has trapped and shot some NW of Willcox. A lot of that area is private. +1 on hunting the Dutton Ranch they are good dudes. If you are looking for a guaranteed kill this might be a good option. Scotty told me that they had some pros from Hoyt come out and they had a tough hunt spot and stock hunting big rams. They cater to all kinds of hunters........ blind, bow spot and stock, rifle, disabled hunters, I think they have some exotics as well. -
YUM.......Polarized in the fishing section at WM.... they cost $5.00, but they are hard to find sometimes. By brother has Native that have replacable lenses.... they are pretty nice and have low light lenses that give you a better look at dawn and dusk!

Roof for ranger crew? where/what to get
AZ_SAWBUCK replied to 1denogean's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have a friend who hade one out of 1/8" aluminum sheeting but finding a piece wide enough was his problem. I think he went to industrial metal supply and found a piece of scrap. Cut it then took it to a metal shop to have the back 4" bent down at a 90 so he could mount led lights to light up the bed, also bent the front 5" at a 45 to mount a light bar. Then a trip to Home Depot for some rubber bushings, screws and screw caps, and put it all together. Turned out very nice with a cool custom look. Less than $150 -
