Bulls shut down like a light switch

Keep at it, you'll find them. It only gets tougher after opening day. They go from no pressure to a forest full of hunters educating them real quick.

    350 bull down

Sweet and congrats! I'm seeing some nice bulls out of 27. I still have a few buddies hunting the unit so I hope to see a few more (just not to many)!

    Well.......

Just saw a picture of a monster that went down this morning, but I'll let the hunter give details when ready.

    Well.......

I'm hearing from some buddies of some bulls hitting the ground this morning. Sure hope to see some pictures soon. Like I told one of my buddies, until I see a picture, it didn't happen.

    Well.......

I second that, all you tag holders (who obviously aren't reading this because you are out hunting) need to get on the ball. I need something to kill the next 8 hours while I am at work coveting all you out in the hills.
  14. Welcome! I ate there several years ago when it was Trophy's. Looks like I need to get back there again.
  15. I got this great idea for a Digiscope adapter from DesertBull and modified it a bit for my Samsung Galaxy S3. All it cost was $2.39 for the couplings (sold together) at Home Depot and a little hot glue. You'll note that I hot glued the white female coupling to an extra phone case that I can easily slip my phone into. The reason I went with the two piece is because it allows me to buy different size black male couplings (also sold at Home Depot) and screw them into the attached white piece to hopefully allow me to use this with my binos. This particular 1.5" black piece fits perfect over my Vortex Viper 15-45 x 65 scope. I'm happy with the results but have an idea for modification/improvement: You'll notice that the picture zoomed all the way in on the pine cone is smaller than the rest. This is because of the distance from the phonecam lens to the scope lens. Using a piece(s) that minimizes the space between the two lenses should result is a larger frame and perhaps clearer picture. I might try another version of this adapter and eliminate the white female piece, and use only a short 1.5" piece to bring the lenses together. The pictures below are of the pine tree poking up in the middle of the frame (about 150 yards out)

    Hunter Ed Question

It's good that he is nervous and is really working hard. My son was the same way last year. From my experience with my son and the rest of the kids in his class, if the kids show up, pay attention, and give a 100% effort, the instructors won't let them fail.

    I Blew It!

Been there. It's been a few years and I'm still haunted by the 115-120 class buck I gave a haircut.

    greer trip

Fished the Greer Lakes over Labor day weekend. The fishing was terrible, we didn't get a bite. Neither did anyone fishing around us. Decided to let the kids catch crawdads. Lots of those! The bulls were bugling a bit, but quit shortly after sun up.

    IMR 4350 or H4350

I have a few bottles of unopened IMR4350 I bought a few months ago and have since decided to go with a different powder. I paid about $30. Let me know if you want them and how many. I live in Queen Creek and work in Tempe.
  22. CWT Community- A couple of weeks ago I posted about the annual event my wife and I put on each September in memory of our son Easton. I'll post a link to that page below if you are interested in more information about the general event. 100% of the proceeds will go to buying toys for and helping with the needs of the children at Phoenix Children's Hospital. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/51415-fitness-event-for-a-cause/ Yesterday we began the online auction portion of the event that will go until 09/20/14 at 6:00 PM PST. My $2.35 digiscope adapter

I have the same spotting scope, so I'm going to configure one for my camera phone using a second case that was given to me. While at Home Depot I noticed that there are a few different sizes of male couplings that could be screwed into the same female coupling. Might be able to make it work for my binos as well! Thanks for the idea!

Online Auction benefiting the kids at PCH

We would love toy donations. Because of the compromised immune systems of many of these children, the hospital requires that any toys be in their new unopened packaging. If you live in the valley I would be happy to meet you somewhere, or if you would like to ship something I can PM you my address. We also have people sending money for the purchase of toys to a PayPal account set up for it. Lastly, any items that could be used in raffles or auctions would also be very welcomed. We have the tax ID information and approval letter from the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation for any straight donations. It cannot be used for item someone purchases at auction or through the raffles. Thanks!
