I think the main goal would be fun outings/hikes with the kids to set up, check, and hopefully get an idea if anything good is in the area. Don't expect to see much because of the camera model or just trail cams in general?

Toyota Tacoma vs Nissan Frontier
rossislider replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
I can't say much about the Tacomas as I have never owned one and think brand bashing it stupid. I hear they are great trucks. But my 2008 Nissan Frontier was the best and most reliable truck I have ever owned until it finally started to have major transmission issues a couple of months ago right at 210,000 miles, at which point I traded it in. Until that point, I drove it everywhere and through everything (many hunts with it). I even once drove out with two whole elk (gutted) in the bed. It never spent a day in the shop. Just oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, etc. All the routine simple stuff I did myself. If I were in the market for a small truck, it would be the first thing I would look at. If I am not mistaken, they are considerably less than the Tacomas. Good luck -
Awesome, congrats Tommy! Glad it went to a great guy.

I think they have a 90 day return policy. I could try them for a month and return if they are garbage.

Good to see it for a change.

I have major foot and ankle issues and have tried on about everything I could find locally or at shows. I was going to buy the non-insulated Crispi Nevada as they seemed to be the best combination of comfort and support I tried in a non-insulated boot. But I really wanted a 10 inch boot and the Nevadas are 8 inch. Their 10 inch version on the Nevadas are the Guide boot, but they weren't making them in non-insulated at the time. I called Crispi this winter and was told they would have them available soon. I now see them available on their website. That would be my choice/recommendation.

Good luck buddy. Those days and weeks sitting in the chair can be long, but better days ahead.

How Long Before a Carcass Completely Scavenged?
rossislider replied to lonne's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Last fall we removed the quarters, backstraps, neck meat, etc. and dumped the rest. Came back 24 hours later to see if it had any visitors and found this about 30 yards from where we left it. -
Hunts for Heroes wants to borrow 150-qt ice chests!
rossislider replied to Lv2hnt's topic in The Campfire
I've got one if you have room and want to grab it as well. -
$58, unless you are putting in for my unit. If that is the case don't send in payment, they will bill you if you draw.

My friend Kevin does that type of work on the west side. I'll send you his info.

Effective Wednesday (7/11) at 8:00 AM Coconino National Forest will be lifting all fire restrictions! I'm sure the rest will be shortly behind. Thank goodness for the rain!!! I know we aren't out of the woods yet, so please continue to be smart and safe, but I'd also like to give a huge shout out to our forest, wildlife, and firefighting agencies for doing what I consider to be a pretty amazing job this year. This year had the makings to be a terrible fire season, but these groups did such great work and seemed to have such a great plan that every fire that popped up got jumped on and out fast. Well done!!! Likewise, amazing work by many organization like the Arizona Elk Society for trucking in hundreds of thousands of gallons of water to our wildlife. I think we once again showed that NOONE loves and cares more about our wildlife than hunters. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconino/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD586542 Coconino NF to lift fire restrictions, area closures WednesdayRelease Date: Jul 9, 2018 Contact(s): Coconino National Forest, 928.527.3600 FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., July 9, 2018, For Immediate Release – Coconino National Forest will lift all fire restrictions and area closures this Wednesday (7/11) at 8 a.m. due to the recent increase in moisture and humidity, as well as the decreasing fire danger across the entire forest and a forecast of more rain over the next 10 days. The National Weather Service predicts increased moisture for the region over the next seven to 10 days, with 1-2 inches of rain accumulation predicted during this period. This will continue to significantly reduce the fire danger over the next couple of days, allowing for the complete rescission of restrictions and closures on Wednesday. Campgrounds across the forest will be open, but some require reservations through www.recreation.gov and may temporarily have limited water and other services, so check the status of your particular campground before heading out by contacting the district office of where the campground is located. District office contact information can be found online at www.CoconinoNationalForest.us. In addition to temporary limitations at campgrounds, access and reservations to Fossil Creek may also be limited for a short time while operations return to normal. The public can purchase a daily permit through www.recreation.gov (search "Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic River") or by calling (877) 444-6777. Permits will be available through September 30. During monsoon season the road into Fossil Creek may be closed due to wet weather; if this happens permit holders will be issued a refund. The status of Fossil Creek can be checked by calling the Fossil Creek Hotline at (928) 226-4611, where updates will be provided as received. Coconino National Forest entered Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on April 27 and moved to Stage 2 on May 4, eventually implementing area closures on May 23 for specific high risk areas.

I know one of the guys (Cody) that runs Rack Out Outfitters. He specializes in and hunts 27 as much as anyone, and would be the first guy I would call for help in that unit. I think he might be able to put something together for you. https://www.facebook.com/Rack-Out-Outfitters-322340688175153/

Show Low is part of the Apache-Sitgreaves national forest, not Coconino. But I would expect to see those lifted in the next couple of weeks.

This was my office parking lot in Tempe at 5:00 PM. Well over the 5 inch curbs.

Haven't we had enough threads locked already?

If we are out of room and need to thin the herd for new members, I have a few I'd like to nominate to get the boot.

Interesting... Someone might get a visit from a warden.

what rifle for me 14 year daughter ?
rossislider replied to fireplanes's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
This past off season I bought a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor for my soon to be 10 year old daughter to use this fall. My primary reason for this rifle is the highly adjustable stock. She is a petite little thing and most of my rifles would be way to big for her. The Ruger Precision comes with a factory brake, and is on the heavier side (I believe 10.7 pounds before the scope), but since I will be carrying it for her, the added weight will be a plus when she shoots. I have it shooting under .5 MOA. Here is a picture from just after I bought it, prior to mounting the scope. -
I was in the market right when they were transitioning from the previous to the current model. I was told by a guy at Outdoorsmans that the only difference between them is the strap attachment. So I jumped on a new pair of the previous model right when the price dropped. I was able to stack some discounts and came in about $1000 under the price of the current model. Love them!

I've recommended this one to a few guys and they were happy with it. https://www.amazon.com/Enerzen-Commercial-Industrial-Deodorizer-Sterilizer/dp/B01M7VOSH1/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_201_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=1G2EKF1SV9G1JW3WYAMP&th=1

I bought a truck 10 years ago that had a strong smoke odor. I ran a small ozone generator in it each night for a few nights with the windows slightly cracked. Never smelled the smoke again.

I would probably stop checking my card for charges.
