21 is a draw unit for javelina, for all weapons.

    18b one more weekend!

You can buy as many leftover tags as you want. You just can't harvest more than 2. Right now I have a 22 archery, 16A HAM, and a 16A Rifle in my wallet. If the lady at the desk challenges you, have her call Phoenix and they will straighten her out.

    3rd choice draw chances

There are a handful of limited opp hunts that can be drawn as a 3rd - 5th choice. Outside of that, its pretty slim pickens. The number of elk tags this year in AZ is 385 less than it was last year. With a record number of applicants last year, and a reduced number of tags this year, its going to be tougher than ever to get tags, but if, you want to hunt elk, there are plenty of options that provide you with that option every single year. Hey now, don't try to be an "elitist" and confuse people with things like facts and data. It gets in the way of complaining and good hearsay.

    Draw Report Question

I think you wrong.... You need to copy the next column on that portion of the regs. You both have it partially correct. If you have a lifetime license and move, then you must purchase tags at the non-resident price, but you are not lumped into the 10% non-resident cap. So, you're treated like a resident for purposes of the draw, but treated like a non-resident in that you have to pay the higher price for tags.

    Draw Report Question

Just to complicate things for you a bit more, the Department is currently going through the process of amending the Article I rules on the draw, and it looks like there will be some changes to the NR/Bonus pass process in the future (2016). If the proposed rule change happens, then there will still be a 10% non resident cap, but no more than half of those tags can be allocated during the bonus pass. In the tough to draw units today, the only chance a non-resident has to draw is to have max points because all non-resident tags go in the bonus pass. Under this change, that won't happen anymore because the cap could never be reached in the bonus pass. Non-residents have figured this out, and some aren't bothering to apply anymore. I like the proposed change. It gets more non-residents to spend their money here, helps prevent point creep for residents because more residents will draw bonus pass tags, and doesn't change the number of tags that might go to non-residents. In fact, it is quite possible that there will be years when non-residents end up getting LESS than 10% of the tags in a unit because their numbers weren't high enough to pull the remaining 5% of their cap from the general draw.

How to get season dates changes.

Waterfowl seasons are set by the federal government based on flyways. They give the states the total number of days they can be open and provide very limited leeway in deciding where to use those days. If it were up to the state, then you might have a chance of being heard. Good luck getting Uncle Sam to listen.

    Whats up with Unit 9?

BINGO! That's the very point that Director Voyles and Steve Clark raised at the meeting. Neither the Department nor the AES was happy. One commissioner in particular just doesn't give a rat's arse. The new commissioner, however, voted against all of the changes in protest. Personally, I think they were walking a very fine line legally speaking. The assistant AG that was present probably should have let them know that they were in danger of violating the open meetings laws. The Guidelines process is opening up again. Make yourself heard. Where possible, let the commissioners know that you expect them to respect the public process that has worked so well for many years.

    Whats up with Unit 9?

That was a last minute change requested by two Commissioners at the December hearing...one who is always pushing for more muzzleloader opportunity.

    scope recommendation

+1000 for the Redfield Revolution. It blows the Vortex at the same price point completely out of the water. I have them on all of my medium range rifles right now. Amazing clarity and eye relief for the price.

    Jumping the string?

I've seen that happen too. A pig did a complete turn around at the sound of the release on a 40 yard shot. Instead of a lung shot going through the right side, the shot went through the left side. Luckily, it was still a fatal hit. So, not only "yes," but "heck yes" a javelina can jump the string.

    8 pounds H4350 for sale

Backorder came through after I already found a supply elsewhere. I can't really justify having another jug on hand at the moment. Jug is new and sealed. $225. Priced to recover the cost of shipping and hazmat.

    No Burn Days

The County gets fined by the Feds for every day the air exceeds EPA standards. The fines they have to pay are quite steep. They automatically impose no burn days on days they expect regular burning will trigger a violation they have to pay. That means holidays. It sucks.

    Snow Storm

You're the second person to report that yet the ADOT website says only closed southbound....kinda frustrating. I'm hoping to be able to make it up to Payson before dawn tomorrow morning for some snow pig action. It would be nice to know that I could rely on the ADOT reports.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

Someone obviously doesn't know the meaning of "unskilled." You're promoting fear mongering from the far right. Others have already explained why the hysteria has virtually no basis in fact and doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. The $3,000 "tax credit" you mentioned is associated with the ACA employer penalties and is something that employers might hypothetically rely on, but it's not going to be something that drives them to make a business decision to employ the undocumented...especially the unskilled who increase their potential liability ten-fold.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

If someone is doing a job in which they can be replaced by a non-English speaking, unskilled laborer, and the employer is motivated by a measly and hypothetical $3,000 tax credit, then perhaps that person should take hard look at himself and figure out what he can do to better his situation, his skills, and his marketability.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

You don't seem to understand how mining claims work. The mining claims in question are the property of the mining company. At one time, domestic entities owned them, but they have found their way to this entity now. Heck, it's possible that at some point some old dude on a mule owned the claims. They get passed on and sold, just like any other property. The land swap at issue has nothing to do with giving one company or another the right to mine there. That's a non-issue. Only one owner can do it. Period. The land swap would allow for the facilities to be built on the surrounding surface, including roads, buildings, basic processing areas, etc. Your assertion that an American company could be doing this mining if it could "outbid for McCain's support" would require that the property rights of the current owner be ignored. THAT's where you called for a taking. As for "corporate welfare," 34a36b already did a great job explaining why the proposed swap is far from that. If you choose to ignore his informed and well-thought out comments, then that's your choice, but it doesn't give your response much credibility. We got ripped off on the swap. Plain and simple. It's not even one chunk of land. It's little, isolated areas. But yeah.... great deal. For someone. They get 2400 acres worth hundreds of billions. We get the shaft. The company owns the mining rights, that is it. They don't own the land. I never said ANYTHING about taking those claims from them. Ever. I asked why an American company could not mine it. You answered, fair enough. Thats a good reason the American company cant mine it. Thank you. Has nothing to do with stripping their claim and giving it tosomeone else. Rio Tito did not have property rights. They have a mining claim. The federal government would get 5,344 acres: • 147 acres of the Turkey Creek parcel in Gila County • 148 acres of the Tangle Creek parcel in Yavapai County • 149 acres of the Cave Creek parcel in Maricopa County • 640 acres of the East Clear Creek parcel in Coconino County • 110 acres of the Apache Leap South End parcel in Pinal County • 3,050 acres of the Lower San Pedro River lands in Pinal County • 160 acres of the Dripping Springs area in Gila and Pinal counties • 940 acres of the Appleton Ranch area in Santa Cruz County The land is not worth "hundreds of billions," the mining claims are worth that, and they already own them. You strip away the value of the mining claims, and the land isn't worth all that much. If you want to charge them a premium for the land based on the value of claims they already own, then that, my friend, is an illegal taking in violation of the Constitution.

You ask where you said something should be taken from someone, how about this right here? You don't seem to understand how mining claims work. 26M east valley hunt buddy

Same here. I only call as a last resort. More often than not, it just makes them run faster. I find that if they haven't smelled you yet, but only heard or seen you, then it's more likely to work. Nothing more irritating that guys wandering around the desert blind cold calling. They aren't stupid animals and get educated pretty quickly.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

The irony in what some have implied here (that vested mining rights should be taken from their actual owner...which happens to be a foreign corporation...and priority should be given to a domestic entity) is that the the socialist governments around the world would agree with them 110%. So much for "don't tread on me."

    Dumb question??? (Archery Javelina)

The guy was wrong, you are right. The non-permit tags available at license dealers is only good for OTC units, which are the metro units, the Mohawk Valley special hunt unit, and a handful of units up north.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

One of the engineering experts I dealt with said that one of the biggest challenges is making sure their equipment works that far down. They're so deep that the earth's temperature melts weak components and parts.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

Then you'd lose that bet. Doesn't take much research to see what the swap entails. Also, McCain can't control who owns the mining claims on the land in question. If an American-owned mining company had been first to the table on the underlying mining claims, then they'd be the one asking for the land exchange to allow for development.

Will we lose Oak Flat Campground to Mining?

Is this really the first many of you have heard of this project and the proposed legislation for the land swap? Have you been living under a rock for the last decade? In my past life I was employed doing legal work for mining companies...even some "foreign" companies. I can assure you, the fact that it is foreign does not mean that most of the money leaves the country. This project means JOBS, and lots of them. It also means billions and billions of dollars for the state coffers. It's been several years since I studied up on it, and I might be misremembering, but the direct impact on the state budget was estimated to be as much as a billion dollars a year once this thing is up and going full bore. What are we losing? A crappy campground right next to a major highway with almost no access to the areas behind it. Climbers are losing a "good" climbing rock (whatever that means), but it's not like there aren't rocks everywhere you turn where they can go risk their lives. In return, the forest service is getting several pieces of sensitive riparian habitat and recreational areas throughout the state.

Hunting/Fishing License as a Christmas Gift

The WalMart employee didn't know what he was talking about. Go back and try a different person. Or, just buy it online and print it out for him.

Little late but need help! 16A?

I've been hunting pigs in there the last two seasons and have seen exactly two bucks. Did she get the companion pig tag? Are they seeing pigs? My sister in law had the junior deer tag a few years ago, and after she blew her chance on the only buck we saw, she harvested a pig so as to not come home empty handed.
