  1. Wow! What an incredible hunt... Congrats to you and especially Sydney! As I prepare to get things packed up for my adult sons' general deer hunt up on the Kaibab, I find myself envious of you! I miss the innocence, excitement and wonder when my boys were your daughters age! I feel fortunate that my son still wants his parents hunting with him, but seeing that priceless smile on Sydney's face makes me miss my little boys!

  2. From the moment of this tragedy the media has completely sensationalized this event... This was not a 'School shooting' it was a shooting that happened on/near campus, NAU was not the target, there was not random shooting in classrooms. There was a confrontation/fight between two groups at a party (Fraternities), according to witnesses there were a lot of drunk people out on the street. The fight took a terrible turn.

There is already clamoring about gun control, this will only feed the beast. This tragedy happened because PEOPLE make horrible decisions... The gun was a tool of this idiot, he is the one that made the life altering decision to shoot...

You have to get a special "International" drivers license?

Nope, just bring yours from home...

We didn't spend much time in Christchurch, too big for us and they were still getting back on their feet from devastating earthquakes. Along with the places I mentioned, we really enjoyed the Kaikoura area as well. With such little time I suggest picking a place you really want to visit and take off! If it is further south an air charter is an easy way to get around the country. Tripadvisor.com is a great place to help you get some ideas, go to their forums, there a lot of itinerary ideas... That is how I did most of my planning. Good Luck!

  4. My husband and I went in April '12. I hunted a week on the South Island then we rented a campervan and toured the South Island for 2 weeks. Plenty of campgrounds to choose from, we liked the flexibility the camper gave us, we traveled at our own pace, didn't have to worry about hotel reservations. We loved Queenstown, Milford Sound is spectacular, and Mt. Cook is amazing! Two weeks sounds like a long time, we saw a lot but could have spent another week on the S. Island exploring, there is so much to do.

Hunting was during the roar so it was really awesome. I hunted red stag, fallow deer, arapawa ram, and feral goat. We did not do any fly fishing, felt like we were way out of our league with that.
