Gonna take a crack at pillars and bedding
10Turkeys replied to CatfishKev's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've had two pillar bedded. The first was a Remington 788 in .308. The second was a 700 BDL in 7mm Mag, with a kit that I won in a door prize from ScoreHigh Gunsmithing. Can't really say if they shot better with pillars as compared to a regular glass bed or not. Most pillars are made for a 700, I don't know how they would size up to a Savage action. -
My Sister In Law pet sits for a couple that have a snake fence around their property, she says they work for snakes, but kill everything else that gets tangled in it, birds, small animals and such.

Background Problems
10Turkeys replied to cosninocanines's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
This happened to me about two years ago, so a hundred new laws might have come into effect since then. I had a gun transferred to Brunos, and I have a CCW permit which Sportmans accepts by the way and so does Healy Arms without the background check, but Brunos runs the check CCW or not. When the check was ran it was placed on hold. I ask why and I was told there was no reason given, so I ask what now and I was told that they had three days to call back and give a reason for the hold and if not I could pick it up. This was like on a Friday and Tuesday I got a call to pick it up. Like I said this was a couple of years ago and it sounds like you might need some legal advice and not from a Sierra Hotel Lawyer. -

If I'm not mistaken, that is one of the Ram silhouette gongs at the Three Points Rifle Range. -

Steve? Did you use this screen name on SC? -
The rebarreling is your option. If you can live with the accuracy it has now keep it, if you can't rebarrel it. 1000 rounds seems kinda early, but a friend of mine had one go at about 700 and that wasn't a factory barrel. One thing you might want to do is shoot it at 400 yards or more. A spent barrel will still group fairly decent at 200-300, but will be lucky to hit paper at 400.

I've got one that has enough rounds down the barrel that I'm surprised that it still shoots. I don't keep a round count anymore, so I don't know exactly how many rounds that has been put down it. By some including the US Army, it's not the rounds down the barrel, it's how much powder that been burned in it. In my experience if you chase the lands, and when you have to make adjustments of 30 thousands or more at a time, your barrel isn't going to last that long.

I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy on the 31st of this month, however if you think you can get er done without me going through the prep, we could possibly set something up.

Are you limiting your services to just dental work?
-
Yep, One of the best places to run into Manny was at the silhouette range. He was still shooting up until a year or so ago. I believe this was at his 90th Birthday party. Thanks, Guys for posting. I'll pass it along to his family.

Marshall writes a piece for True West Magazine called ask the Marshall and that's the email that he uses. My wife drug me by the ear to a Phoenix Association of Realtors meeting and Marshall was the guest speaker, quite interesting. His latest book on Arizonas Lawman and Outlaws is a good read.

It's definitely true about crossing the border, speeding maybe, but lately I've seen quite a few tickets handed out for a single person driving in the hov lane on the 17 going to work and coming home. The signs say a minimum 400.00 fine. They must have money to throw away.

I don't know how much of this story is factual or not, but if they were putting them together and selling them illegally then the ATF kinda frowns on that. There was an official with the city of Mesa that was selling guns illegally, and after being warned by this friends not to do so, he did it anyway. The last I heard he was still in the big house.

We have been registering our guns since 1968, when you buy a gun that ATF form you fill out isn't for the stores record! The question that I would ask your liberal buddy Is what more laws could they pass against guns that isn't on the books, but not enforced?
