    Tucson knife sharpening

Don't think I would use a belt sander on a knife blade, myself. A lot of it has to do the the quality of the steel of your knife. Some of them can get pretty sharp and then be dull after you pick your finger nails. I have S30V steel on my hunting knife and it is only sharpened on a stone. You can tell if someone gets both edges right on a knife, it will about slice your finger tip off, when you check the blade. Helps to have a decent stone also!

    .264 ROUNDS

Just about every bullet manufacturer makes a 140 grain bullet in .264, which one were you looking for?

    Sleeping Cots

When I was way younger I slept on the ground, then a cot, now it's an air mattress. The type that stands about a foot and a half tall. They come in different sizes. Just my opinion.

How Die Hard Of A Hunter are you??

I don't know anyone that is independently wealthy. The one guy that I know that lives in the woods, was kicked to the curb by his ex wife long ago, and his employment last long enough to fund his next trip.

Most of the guys that I know that live in the woods are divorced and unemployed.

    Kestrel

Kestrel, wind meter? Every now and again I see somebody with one. This is my opinion of them, so take it for what it's worth. They give you an indication of what the wind is doing where you are at, not down range where the target is. Say you have a 500 yard shot and the wind where you are at is from the left at 3mph, at 200 yards it it from the left at 6mph, no difference at 300 yards, at 400 yards it is from the right at 8mph, at 500 it really doesn't matter because your bullet is already there. If I have time, ie the animal doesn't know I'm there I'll take a look at what the wind is doing from about a 1/3 of the way to 1/2 of the way to the target. In my opinion that wind will affect your bullet more than where your at. If you can find a range that stretches out more than two hundred yards, even further the better, and take a look and see what the wind is doing through mirage or blowing trees, grass, it won't take long to having a feel what the wind is doing.

    Veteran POW

Here is one WW ll vet, that I was glad to meet. Clarence (Bud) Ollum. The 82ND Airborne Division had 4 combat jumps in WW ll, Bud made all 4. One of his buddy's is in Brokaws book, Gagne, who didn't make it back, Bud is mentioned in Brokaws second book. Passed away in 2009. He also had an interview in Military History Magazine, and there is a couple of YouTube videos of him.

    .243 Coues load

A Friend of mine was telling me that he was talking to a guy who worked for a company in the mid west who went into towns that were over run with Deer and plugged them. He said that they used a .243 with the 85 gr Sierra HPBT (1530), never lost one, and killed them grave yard dead.

    Favorite boots

Red Wing 415 everyday use. Red Wing 2203 for work. Both have been resoled. I was told that Red Wings were heavy, hard to break in, but the most comfortable boot around, found that to be true.

    Another first Antelope

Good job! That rifle screams Ruger 77 Mark ll. PM sent.
  13. I have a 6.5 CM, but have never hunted with it, as a matter of fact I've owned two. My bud shot a big bodied Coues a few years ago with his 6.5 CM, he said it was ranged at 200 yards. I'm pretty sure he used some kind of Barnes bullet, and another bud shot a speed goat with his 6.5 CM last year in NM, ranged at 400 yards, he was using a Berger bullet. Both animals were deader than Julius Caesar.

    Drop Tine Coues

Anyone ever take a drop tine. My buddy picked up a skull with a drop tine. I will see if I can get a pic from him. Pretty neat looking.

Heck Yea 2018 *New Huntress Update*

    Congrats!
  19. My OCD's are kicking in why this gun will shoot one bullet, but not the other. I checked the latest Nosler manual and there is nothing listed for R-23 or H-1000. If you got your data from another bullet, that might or might not work. Do you have any of the powders listed?
  20. Mr. Recurveman by all appearances you have your ducks lined up and are good to go!
  21. I would have to agree with you in theory about holding in the middle of a six inch group and cutting it down to three if the group shot by the rifle was somewhat circular. You didn't answer my question about the wind. The op's rifle was in 6.5 Creedmoor. Gary from Hornady tells me that a Hornady 143 ELD-X going at 2800fps, from a 6.5 Creedmoor has 8.9 inches of displacement at 400 yards with a 10mph crossing. Add that to your three inches at best or 6 inches at worst. If it was me, I would find out if the rifle shot best with a clean bore or a fouled bore, then which ever way it shot the best, I would see if the first shot was consistent at 400, if it was I would practice till I could regularly hit something the size of a deer chest. Just my two cents.
  22. To quote a long gone gun writer There is a lot of 400 yard rifles sitting in the racks of 100 yard riflemen. Got to agree with a little bit of what recurveman stated, but 3 inches isn't 1.5 moa at 400 yards, if my math is correct its closer to six inches, add a little wind with that and who knows where and if it would hit a deer.
  23. One thing that hasn't been thrown out there is your rifle might have a tight neck in it. I've seen it happen it a factory rifle, and so for some reason those Noslers bring it out. Measure the necks of a loaded case, perferably loaded with the Nosler bullet and then measure a case neck from the fired Nosler bullet case, there should be at least a couple of thousands difference between them. Eventuality if you just neck size your brass, sooner or later your brass is gonna stretch and not go in your chamber, if you are hunting that's a problem, if you are at a bench rest match not so much.

    Accuracy Issue *Update*

My buddy told me an old saying One shot, animal is probably dead, Two shots, maybe dead, Three shots, animal long gone.
