Cleaning out the man cave/shed *More* prices dropped

Edge, Will you throw in that lime green lead rope with the purchase of the jack? -
I use RCBS and I have a couple of Redding dies. Also long done with Midway. I use Natchez Shooters Supply, just ordered some dies from Amazon, and I pretty much go to Bruno's or Sportsmans Warehouse for the rest of what I need.

When a hostage situation ends like the one in Armarillo did today. No hostage hurt, suspect dead. No trial, no court cost no prison stay soaking the taxpayers.

My first vote was for Gerald Ford. Three things I have never done and haven't been tempted either, never golfed, slept with a man, or voted for a democrat.

I put my dog down in October, gave the dog house and a travel crate to a rescue shelter, if anyone doesn't want the house, I can find a place for it.

257 weatherby head space guage
10Turkeys replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Apache12, I was also looking for a head spacing tool for a cartridge not listed on the Hornady chart, so I called them and they told me the one that would work, might try that. I have found that RCBS precision mic is a good tool also, but pricey. -
rcdinaz, That picture is a chin stock. Delevoped for Rifle Silhouette by David Tubb. Caused quite a clammer back in the day, quite a few people purchased the stock and then the NRA made them illegal to use. David used the same set up when he was shooting the Sportsmans Team Challenge when it was popular. Tubb was a Great shot and innovator.

You can have them fluted from the barrel maker which would be the best choice, or you can have an after market flute, but with the after market flute you have to realize that your barrel might not shoot as good as it once did. I changed stocks one time and it put my rifle over the ten pound two ounce limit in the rules. I had it fluted to knock off a couple ounces and the gun shot the same as before, but I knew going in that there was a 50/50 chance of it not doing so. Bottom line is that I wouldn't do it just to do it.

Imr 4350 in 30-06 just average
10Turkeys replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If you have a Savage 111 you are loading from the clip/mag so your seating depth as far as how long they can go is limited. I use IMR 4350 in three different calibers including a 30-06 and it shoots lights out. I know that you just started reloading so another thing that might be happening is that the IMR 4350 is a stick powder and it might be hanging up in your thrower causing a short/over on your charges, which will reflect so on paper when you shoot. Try loading up about twenty rounds measuring each charge and try that. An inch group out of a factory gun that has had nothing done to it is cause for rejoicing! Sometimes with a factory gun factory loads can't be out done with hand loads, but you never know until you try. Just my two Abe's tossed in. -

This is just my opinion and everyone knows what that is worth. The guys that are working at SW aren't all savy riflemen, most were probably flipping burgers or changing oil a couple of days before standing behind a gun counter. About three years ago at our sight in service at Ben Avery we had at least 4 guys who had just bought their gun at SW and had their scope mounted and bore sighted. Well guess what their bolts wouldn't close. The clerk at the store mixed up the front and rear screws for the bases and the long screws were preventing the bolt from closing. Another tip other than third horse fourth race, when a clerk bore sights that scope for you it basically means that if your shooting into a mountain its going to hit it somewhere, don't take it that it is ready to go hunting. Another tip after the the scope is mounted and sighted in take some finger nail polish and paint around the scope and bases. If the finger nail polish splits or cracks the scope has moved from coming loose or being dropped, it will also give you a starting point where to put the scope to be remounted or re sighted in.

Accubond Ogive Variance
10Turkeys replied to CritterGitter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Common occurrence with pretty much all bullets, check the numbers on your old box and compare with the numbers on your new, probably two different lot numbers. Most competitive shooters will buy larger quantities and all the same lot numbers trying to avoid such happenings. -
It depends on if you believe what you read, I do and Armageddon ain't happening with those rag heads throwing rocks.

I was sitting in a Restaurant called Prescott Charlie's next to the Prescottion Motel when it started happening. I was waiting for the Guard unit I was in to get called up. Didn't happen two batallions of Field Artillery one was so bad at least on paper that it was disbanded. Thanks to all who served. Upon reflection as our cousins the Brits say You Americans know how to fight and win a war, but don't know what to do after ward. Who other than us would kick the heck out of a corrupt leader leave him in charge, then go back 10 years later and do it again?

NEW Ruger Precision Rifle .243, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308
10Turkeys replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Looks like they cloned David Tubbs rifle. -
They are all over the mine. The biggest one I have seen so far was a brute, both sides broomed, walking across the road by the Morenci Fire Dept. I've never hunted them or had the desire to, but a bud that has told me if you have taken a Coues Deer you could probably take a whole herd of Sheep.

Reminton 700 7mag hang fire
10Turkeys replied to ngazhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm assuming this has a factory barrel? The only thing that I can think of is that your chamber might be a tad to long. Most factory barrels are hammer forged, completely pounded out in about five minutes, some wind up with long chambers, I've seen a couple with short chambers. Brass is not all the same size either and it is springy on top of that. The 7mm Rem Mag is one of the few mags that Headspace's on the shoulder instead of the belt. My guess is since it only happens every now and again that a short piece of brass is shoved first into the chamber and then the firing pin eventually gets to the primer. This is my best guess. Have you ever looked at your primer after having a hang fire? If it's not as deep as the rest of the normal fired ones that's a pretty good sign. -
