If you go back to your original post, you mention .270 WSM twice nothing about a .270 Win. I'd be waiting to hear from the US Ordinance Dept. if I had something that shot that flat. I've been shooting out to five hundred meters (547 yards) for over twenty years and never seen anything shoot that flat.

Where I hunt in 36B there are a lot of scrub oak trees, not every year but when there are acorns on those trees those Coues eat them like candy, which makes their meat taste even better. IMHO. Noticed nobody has Javelina for there number one choice, I've choched down a couple of them, there isn't enough BBQ sauce, onions and garlic to make them edible. The last few years my Bud has made sausage out of them, mix enough pork and spices with them and they aren't that bad.

About three years ago, read the sticky post Pig Logic. Don't remember who posted the comment about if the pigs leave an area and if they are not to frightened they will return. That worked for me two years ago and this year after the herd ran off. Just sat there not making any noise not using a call of any kind and about half hour to forty five minutes later they came back. Thanks.

There are plenty of them on backpage.

I had a .270 WSM that I recently sold, didn't shoot quite that flat, had some punch for a long ways out there. Didn't want to shoot anything that my other .270 Win liked, tried some Hornady 140 grain interlocks and bingo that was it.

That definetly is indeed a C-130 Hercules, scenario number one, a rumor was going around about fresh donuts in the area so the BP decided to take an Airborne qualified person and make a HALO jump into the area and then to have the other agents (that is more than one) that have been driving their vehicles like they are training for the Baja 500 to go and fetch the donuts since apparently they don't care to much for going after drug runners. Second scenario is that one of the agents found an illegal that was a babe, and the rest of them were looking for her, ever notice how many law enforcement vehicles are at the scene when a hottie is pulled over? Looks like they are making an arrest on the felon from the 10 most wanted list.

My party of 4 was hunting in 36B on the Nov 7th hunt this past year, on Sat my bud saw 5 illegals with three of them carrying burlap backpacks. On Sun on my way to Arrivaca, I flagged a BP guy down and told him what my buddy saw and where we were camped if he wanted to ask him any questions. When I got back to camp I ask if anyone from the BP came around and he said no. They were real big on driving the heck out of the main and small roads, but didn't see any on foot anywhere. By the way they were driving those dirt roads, you could tell that they were not making any kind of payment on those vehicles. With that being said If I got in a shooting brawl with any of the illegals, someone would either catch me before I left the area or would be pounding on my door saying my name my life description my vehicle info, and say you plugged that guy with a Rem 700 ADL, 30-06, 150gr Sierra Gameking moving at 2900 FPS, we have it all on tape!

As mentioned from the above posts with the cost of components now, it is cheaper just to buy the factory stuff. Try BPI ballistic products incorporated, they are a total shotgun business. It's been a few years since I've delt with them but they used to be pretty good.

Read the book, gonna see the movie when I get a chance. The American forces ranks are fortunate to have always had some farm boy who knew his way around a rifle ie. Alvin York, Audie Murphy, Carlos Hathcock,Shifty Powers,Mr. Kyle and probably so very many that we haven't heard about.

I was stricken with insomnia one night and was watching one of those cop shows. A couple was hunting and the husband turns up dead, cops was sure the wife plugged him, but she was carrying a .308 Win. A .270 core was found. Any ideas?
-
She offed him with her .308 using a Nosler Partition. No jacket was recovered but the core was. Her claim was someone else shot him, but she's away for awhile.

Today at the Safford rifle range, after the steel dog shoot, a scope was taped at the metal post at 385m (427 yard) line. We called it the Saving Private Ryan Scope Shot. A pot was started at a buck a shot per shooter. The first couple rounds were any position except off the bench and prone. The wind and the cold came into play and we were on the bench.Terry, Stomp 442's Wife finally drilled it and won the pot. A couple were close but the winner had to break glass with a bullet. Everyone had a good time and congrats again to Terry the winner.

Recommended Books for Reloading
10Turkeys replied to Basser15's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Years ago I was in need of a couple of steel cutouts of Javelinas, a friend of mine had a plasma cutter and offered his services, when I got the steel back they kinda sorta looked like Javelinas, bottom line is just because they have a plasma cutter, or reloading press or fill in the blank doesn't mean they know how to use it. Along with a reloading manual you might check out a DVD Sierra bullets puts out featuring David Tubb, just my .02. -
I am a member of Rio Salado, Ben Avery just has daily memberships, but I am a member of the Hassayampa Rod and gun club, Tucson Rifle Club, Globe-Miami gun club and I regularly shoot at the Stafford rifle range. Best bang for the buck is the Stafford range run by the city, you can shoot there pretty much when ever you want, has a piece of steel hanging that is about 761 yards, range was originally set up for Silhouette so there are four berms, 200,300,385,and 500 meters. Best range I think is in Globe, goes out to 300 yards membership is 30.00 a year + NRA membership if you are not already a member, a picnic area that is alone worth the membership. BA, Rio and TRC are all ran by game and fish pros and con's with all three of them. If you are thinking about a range I would check to see if if fell under the range protection act that Jane Hull had put into effect a few years ago, then I would load up on insurance and have a very good lawyer lined up. Just my two Abe's.

Good job! Range time paying off!

Wasn't this quiet last year.

Flatlander, What happened was on the first draw if 80% of the tags are already gone on your first choice it will go to your second or third choice. The guys that I put in with wanted to hunt 37B, but ended up with a 36B tag, ended up buying a tag for 37B. As posted somewhere else if you really want to hunt a unit make that one your first and second choice and your actual second choice your third choice. G&F got into our pockets for an extra tag.
-
It's kind of like what happened to a few guys this year that happened to me last year got drawn for like a third choice when there were first choice tags on the second draw. But taking money from your card was more direct. We call that BOHICA or bend over here it comes again.

Tips on buying a used rifle
10Turkeys replied to 4Falls's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
One other thing that I personally look for is the last four serial numbers etched into the bolt and see if if matches with the number on the receiver, always had one that did, but if it didn't I would surely pass on it. -
Started with a basic RCBS rockchucker press in the early 70's, along came wife, kids, and house, then went the press a 700 Rem ADL in 30-06 and a .357,then went the wife, a RCBS RS 3 kit came along, still have it also have a Redding Boss press, can't say you could go wrong with any of the kits that RCBS, Hornady, Lyman, or Redding have, had a bud buy a Lee kit and he said that he was sorry he did. Has anyone noticed that with the RCBS kits that they are including a Nosler reloading manual? RCBS is owned by ATF same company that owns Speer.

Before GI Jane, Lee Marvin in the Big Red One, training flick, saw it at York Theatre FBNC, 28307.

I was in Bruno's today, they must have just got a shipment of powder in, even had a lot of kegs, even had Varget in one pounders though. Your choice to bend over going in the door or leaving, but if your getting powder its going to happen.

Trust me they are broken in and are shooters, just need to get to a needy soul like yourself!

Last year a 250 Savage, this year a 6.5x284, next year a .270, 7mm Mag, or maybe even a .260, see me. I can make it happen for you!
