That’s their standard response to every draw cycle. It allows them an easy out to not have to talk to all the people who “should have been drawn for hunts that were ALWAYS 100% draw.” Those days are gone…everyone still holding out hope, your only shot is a rejected card tag at this point, IMO. I’ve heard from guys that have drawn deer, crane, turkey and sheep. They have hit all the cards for all the species. They aren’t ran at different times, different species, bonus pass first and so on…again, just my opinion.

Could it be mathematically plausible that these 100% odds hunts are no longer 100% odds, barring the “I put in for 36b October with 13 points” guy. Aside from the elk draw where they hit in bunches, every other draw has been done by day 1, usually before 10am.

That just stuck a dagger in the hearts of thousands of guys still holding out hope that “something strange” is up with this draw. Haha

Is fall turkey worth getting out and chasing? I recently had a spring tag and the hunt was lackluster, but kind of gave me the turkey bug. It was my first turkey hunt so I don’t know a lot about hunting them. I suppose fall turkey would be spot and stalk or hunting over water? No calling right? What are your opinions?

Anyone have any luck? We were up for 3 days and didn’t hear a single gobble during daylight or at night on the roost. Only saw 3 hens and they were all alone cruising.

I have a unit 27 turkey hunt next week and I’m looking for ideas of where to camp that will put me somewhat close to turkey. We are going up Tuesday to look around and hopefully find a few spots to put a trailer. I know snow and the fire near Alpine might dictate camping so thought I’d ask if anyone has some suggestions. The shotgun I have has an HS Strut turkey choke in .695. Do I need a more constricted choke? Thinking I’d like to shoot 45 yards max. I’ll be shooting Winchester Longbeard XR 12 g 3” #5 shot. I’ll be patterning it soon and wondering if I should grab a tighter choke before I pattern it.

We drew the unit 27 hunt with two season dates…I’ve never hunted Turkey before and I can only hunt 1 week…is there a predominantly better week to hunt? Are they usually more vocal one week over the other? I just want to give myself the best odds of finding them (vocally) during the week I can hunt.

You likely drew your 1st or 2nd choice. Some cow tags see round 3-5.
