Yes it is the factory barrel. Factory plastic stock that has been glass bedded. It is a 510 or 512 but I'm not sure which. Blued less than 300 rounds. Rifle is in good shape..I'd say 8/10 He'd like to sell as a package with Leupold variX3 4.5-14 Boone and Crockett reticle. I would chose a different scope so I will try and purchase just the rifle. I'm not sure what kinda rings and bases, but I'd just as soon buy my own.

Initially that was the direction I was leaning. That or a savage lrh. My only issue with a Remington long range is the weight and recoil. I'd like it in 300 win mag. To cut weight I'd want to get the barrel and maybe even the bolt fluted. To combat recoil I'd want to get a muzzle brake installed. I figure I'd have to put in +/- $500. Now I'm at $1200ish. That's why I was wondering if I should start with the rifle in question and down the road replace the barrel and stock? I'm as green as can be at long range shooting/hunting so all opinions are welcome!

Just put 2 antelope apps and 2 elk apps through with no issues (had issues last night).

Trying to buy an antelope bonus point for my wife and when I get to the conformation page to pay it keeps adding a license fee. She already has a license and I've put that lic number in on the previous page. Anyone else having this issue?

19a and 19b. Which ranches are worth paying trespass fees and which aren't? I have 22 points and who knows maybe I'll draw a tag. I'd like to hold out for an 80"+ buck. I was told by someone that the Perkins ranch in 19a isn't allowing hunting at this time due to "family issues"??? How is the public land access in 19b and are there any decent bucks to hunt on the public land? I'm a little more familiar with 19a, but not a ton about either. Thanks.

so I've been kicking around the idea of buying a long range rifle for a while. I'd like to comfortably be able to shoot 500-660 yards and over time reach out to 1000. Here is my question....option 1. I own a Remington 700 ADL in .270. Should I build off of that action with a new stock, barrel and trigger? I don't know much at all about guns as I'm mostly a bow hunter, but I look forward to learning through this process. Excuse my ignorance , but can I turn a .270 action into a .300 win mag? That will be my long range caliber of choice. Assuming I put on a $300 stock, $300 barrel, $150ish trigger then pay a gunsmith $200-$400 dollars to put on the barrel,trigger and muzzle brake I'm into the build for around $1000. Does that sound about right? Or option 2...buy a new savage long range hunter in 300 win mag. It already has the aftermarket stock, better trigger than I'm used to, heavy barrel and muzzle brake. I can get into one of those for under $1000. Option 3.... Buy a Remington 700 long range. Those retail for $699. It has a good aftermarket stock, heavy barrel, and again a better trigger than I'm used to. It would need a brake put on so with that cost plus a new trigger if I don't like the factory one I'm guessing that would put me right around the $1000 mark. Look forward to your guys opinions on here.

Lance, here is where it gets confusing for a novice like myself....to do the "work" you described to the .270 I currently own would cost $1,500 ($200 trigger, $400 stock, $400 barrel and $500 gunsmith). Would that gun be that much better than an out of the box Remington 700 long range for $700..$900 with brake put on or $900ish for a savage long range hunter? I don't just think it's as easy as buying a gun and hitting the gong at 1000 yds. I will put in the work, but I want the best starting point I can get.

I have a friend looking for a long range set up. He would prefer a gun and scope combo, but he's open to piecing them together. Only thing is....he's in a hurry to buy one for an October deer hunt. I thought maybe someone on here would have a rig that they've been thinking about selling but haven't posted in the classifieds yet? The search is over....he ended up ordering a "best of the west" Rifle/Huskamaw Scope combo. Thanks for all the offers and input. He said he learned a lot from those of you he spoke to.
