  1. I received my binoculars back from Leica today. They basically replaced the ocular lens and cleaned/lubed the suckers pretty darn good. If it weren't for my wear on the carrying strap eyelets, I would think they were a brand new pair. Very impressed, relieved, and satisfied. Thank You Leica.

Great footage and nice creativity with the vid. I found myself singing the lyrics to the tune you chose as well LOL! Congratulations on your success!

Wow! Congrats and way to keep up after the buck. It could have easily turned into a nightmare ending. Awesome job.

    Wallow Fire

My point being, how much blame will be laid on them and how much "credit" will the feds take for lifting the fire restrictions during that windy holiday when the fire started. Will this end up as a blame game and will new management practices come because of this. Like I stated, I'm curious to see where this wiill end up.

Very interesting. I will be watching this closely. Wondering what and how much they will be held accountable for.

Sweet! Lol! Let us know what you think of the packable jacket. I bought the guide vest also. I'll be doing a review on the guide jacket for everyone as well.

What do you think of the attack pants? (if you have them) I'm pretty picky when it comes to pants. Have to fit well. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    Bedded down animals?

All your answers are feasibly correct. If the animal is patterned and not under a lot of pressure, there is a good possibility it will be in the area again the following days. If you push the issue, as long as you take calculated risks and there is a better than average possibility of success, then you can try to get the animal to move. The last choice, shoot where bedded, has a very high success rate. Given the animal isn't aware of your presence, you have a clear shot, and time to set up.

KUIU Ultralight Hunting / Vias Camo

I received an email stating the items have shipped. So, with that said, pretty decent shipping turn around. I've heard good things about the clothing and hope the products live up to expectation. Jay has some pictures of the Vias camo pattern in action... http://jayscottoutdoors.blogspot.com/search/label/KUIU

    20 MOA base question

Here is a quick ballistic program to check your clicks available for your scope and dialing up to 1000. http://biggameinfo.com/BalCalc.aspx (thank Christian for that link) A 20MOA base will definitely help you with having enough clicks to dial way out there. One drawback to a 20MOA base is the height it adds to the scope position in relation to your action. Between that and rings, it adds height and need for a different cheek weld position, or higher cheek piece. As far as turrets are concerned, Christian also came up with a trick to change the markings on your turret for different elevations, temperatures, etc. He simply wraps the turret face with plumbers tape and marks the ranges with a permanent marker. Then he can always change out to new tape, with new markings, if he needs to. Use a ballistics program that generates the clicks for you. (don't forget to check these at the range too) I opted to go with a custom Kenton turret for some specific hunts. I can always go the tape route also. As far as close shots are concerned, I know how many clicks in the opposite direction I need to go in order to be "right on" at 50 yrds, 100 yrds, and PBR (point blank range) for quick action where time for dialing the turret may not exist. Hope this helps and best of luck!

    Little help.

You are definitely in a good area. Workman Creek holds quite a bit of deer, and lion.
  13. Great great buck. Congratulations!

    guns etc

Lark, weren't they giving a discount to members here a while back? I appreciate their support of the site but you should have called me first before you went there. They always seem to have a "better than thou" attitude when I walk in. I don't have time for that. My money is good at other places too.
  16. Tyler, Thanks for posting up your reality and view on the issue. I have had a few conversations with people today concerning this. From guides, to ranchers, to the common Joe. I am curious to see who is appointed director after a while.

Cool buck! Way to go Steve!
  18. I just received an email with a tracking number. Binos are due to arrive in two days! Now that was QUICK! Way earlier than what I was quoted.

    Which 15's are you running?

Leica Duovids 10-15 I glass up a lot of game with these bad boys.
  20. The sportsmen of New Mexico have been getting the shaft for a long time. I'm sorry to hear that things are getting worse. These landowners and guides are not going to quit as long as they keep getting tags and clients. My only hope is that sportsmen from other states are paying close attention. Similar mishandlings and management ideas are working their way in circles already.
  21. This is not good. What do you think contributed to the appointment? Lack of voice from sportsmens opposition or loud support from others? Maybe a little confusion and misguidance of supporters?
