Finding new hunting areas when the old ones dry up
Chef replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Sonoita is nice. Or, you could relocate to the Wellton Station and help us all out with desert bighorn scouting! -
That sounds like a good time. I'll be up in the area in several days for the long weekend. What rigs were bringing in the fish? Were there any fire restrictions like you mentioned?

Sold this weekend at the ADBSS Fundraising banquet for $375K. Congrats to the winning bidder. I hope they tag a monster this 2024-25 season..

Our friends over at Camera Land NY have an "open box" sale on these! I just ordered one!! Sig Sauer Kilo5K 7x25mm Monocular ( Open Box ) - Camera Land NY

Yes, it was high. This year's 1st permit tag auctioned for $90K.
-
If you "bought the bump," the auctioneer would add $200 to your bid total, which purchased you a ticket for a special raffle. If you didn't want to "buy the bump," they would auction your ticket to the highest bidder. The ticket was for a Swaro spotter and the Outdoorsman's fancy tripod. ($4500+ value)

The Colorado and New Mexico rocky tags went for $600K each this year. Crazy.
-
Yes sir. I've seen them go for $10K, so that was a deal.
-
That's what I remember too, but the online site said otherwise. (?)
-
I also have to add, the ADBSS put on a heck of an event. Attendance was well over 900 people and the property was a nice upgrade from locations of years past. Saw some old friends from the forum and met some new ones.

I've had plenty of time to be behind them. Enough to be impressed. The weight is by biggest concern, but I've packed heavy before. I want to look through a pair of STCs before I decide. Not 100% certain that STCs will be too wide for my PD. Thanks for everyone's feedback. I was wondering if a newer solution was hitting the market that made them obsolete. Hence what seems like fire sales on used units.

This is my carry piece even when out in the hills. Model 340PD. Had a trigger job done,. It's super light and compact while very manageable even when shooting .357 rounds.

I've seen many men that couldn't keep it together when an opportunity came at a monster buck. Imagine the buck shooting back.

Anybody Spring Bear Hunting this year?
Chef replied to bowhunter-tw's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Sound like an exciting turn of events! Congratulations on the success! -
Let me know if you hit up Carlsbad and want an Italian restaurant recommendation. Low key, not in any touristy area, fresh pasta.

It's been a long time since I've witnessed anyone use the word "bodacious". Congratulations! GLWS

Great stuff! Congratulations! I have the same tag (timeframe) for next year. I remember you posting your bull before.

The owner told us that Dave asked them if that was all the staff they had. He replied, "Yes". Dave told them he would need to hire more staff. He didn't believe him 100%. He knows now how mistaken he was. When we went, the small staff was running on fumes. Utterly, completely exhausted.

Place looks pretty good.
