Spirits are already high in my household bud. Lights are awesome but don't need them to celebrate the true meaning. Merry Christmas

If I put up lights no one would see them except the wife and I. To far out to waste the money.

    Ideas on conserving our game.

Sitting out a year just gives you another bonus point. Should just stop all hunting all together for 5 years. That'll build herds up. Get out your cameras boys! Lets watch em grow. Oh and.still charge yearly for tag fees so the money doesn't dry up.

    The Left Over Luck Buck

Very nice! And I love the part about the weather man being correct. They said it would clear at 5 where we were at, 4:50 it was sunny! Got it right for once

    G+F hunter survey

I usually hunt a huge chunk of forest land that is locked up by a small chunk of private land, is that still in the harvest report from them? I've heard they don't survey non "public" access land?

    Second cat of the year

I try to be funny if I'm boozin or not! I'll let you guess on that one haha! Gotta get to deer camp in the morn. If I happen to kill a chubby bob or a belomic bobby I'll take pics. Good luck everyone tomorrow and Friday, whether it's hunting or surviving the family guests.

    Happy Thanksgiving

Happy thanksgiving everyone! Two terms I hate the most, "turkey day" and "X-mas" shows a lot of disrespect IMO. And happy holidays pisses me off too lol. Anyways.....

    Monday Check in

Ended up dropping 40 lbs after pneumonia. Been trying to regulate the "movement" for a month but just keep dropping pounds. I'm good with it since I'm fat but yeah, not healthy! Down 2 pant sizes and the best part... I DON'T EVEN LIFT BRO!!

    Second cat of the year

What's a trap and young, or cage a crocket bobby worth anyways? Maybe 50 bucks more than a "regular sized" cat?

what "extended conflict" are you referring to? The boys I hang around with would laugh at your NPR reference and call it a war. That is if your talking about the same overseas issue that has been going on for the past 14 or so years. If that's the "conflict" your referring to I only ask that you don belittle it by calling it a conflict, no matter what the legal definition is.

What is your Go-To round for Elk?

.22 mag pistol, spot light, head shot! Gets them every time when I'm on the side by side off the main road and cutting my own path. I take a hack saw to cut the antlers off and leave the meat. Good time!! Joking BTW for the sensitive folks in the group.

    Meatgrinders

I had an hand grinder then bought a new hand grinde, cut my time in half. 120lbs though? I'd need a lot of whiskey to grind that!!

    Best starter kit

Also started with a Lyman kit. The progressive press from that kit is up for sale here actually. I know use two rcbs rock chuckers. The Lyman kit came with the most when I bought it (10 years ago.) the case trimmer I'm also selling because I have a Forster. Love the rest of the kit though. If you need any odds and ends let me know. I have a few spares.

    *** Rem 1100 12ga

Wish I could buy that rem 1100! It's be a great spare for the one I shoot now. Great gun and have shot lots of fowl this year with mine!

My boots have soles of a synthetic rubbery substance. This boot leather you all talk about? I don't know of? Ya'll must be in sheep skin moccasins. Red wing doesn't offer that in a 14-15 EEE

    Meatgrinders

I use a hand held. We don't buy burger from the store anymore because of cost and buy from the local butcher. I can grind 20 lbs in about 25 minutes (with the wife helping me to bring cold meat out as I grind) it'll grind semi frozen or thaws meat. When using thawed I have to add a handful of ice every few pounds or I get mushy pink slime. My busted up elbow tells me to buy electric but my wallet says I'm ok with what I got.

    YOU PICK!!

The deer looks weird in all of them but 7 looks the best.

    Spring Draw Results?

I thought the same? The 2014 elk draw was the last one using the outside company?

How go you all cook venison roast

I've cooked venison every which way I can think of, from breakfast sausage to barria, to chorizo, to zucchini stuffed burger, to cabeza. And everything in between, it's all been very good! However, I've never been able to get a good roast cooked that's not dry. Aside from wrapping in bacon to get some fat how do you do it? I've got 2 roasts around 3.5lbs. Kidso's bear roast inspired me to find a way lol. I've brined and smoked them and had good deli type slices after, stewed them and it was good, but I'm looking for a recipe where it's not submerged in juice or boiled and stays juicy.

    What is it?

Badger? No clue, just a guess.

    questionable shots

Live and learn buddy. Next time you'll be better practiced for the wind or won't shoot. Stand up move on your part to admit it but it brings the issue to the fore front. Lots of folks get buck fever or see the first buck of their hunt and take a shot. May be to long, bad angle, hunter winded and out of breath, or just plain ignorance to their ability. Whatever the reason it happens to more than care to admit. I missed an 80yard shot at a deer broad side 2 years ago, swore I hit it. Looked for blood for hours but found none. Went back for two days and saw no birds circling or coyotes or anything. More people need to man up and admit mistakes or bad judgement.
