    Curious, how you do it?

And I haven't just started hunting. I've hunted my whole life. Never with the technology of today's hunters.

Amanda, I love your answer and honesty! I have Zeiss victory fl, basically bought my my entire family one year for Christmas. Best present ever. Haha can't afford the tripod adapter so I just rest them on the tripod, works ok. My truck is my quad (and yes it's beat to heck and scratched) my good hunting rifles are hand me downs, however I was able to buy one nice vortex scope. The other ones have leaupold glass. Good but low power. My amazing wife bought my range finder a few years back as a valentines day present! I love her so much!! I reload all my ammo, and 13 out of my 15 vacation days goes to hunting.

    AK Caribou

I've heard the meat is bad that time of year because they pee on themselves for rutting reasons. If you an antler man I'd go for the caribou, if you want meat (and are able to bring it home) I'd go with the deer. Either way though , your in frieking Alaska!!! Your gonna have fun!!

Haha, I have deer in my back yard and live in the sticks! We eat alot of rabbit from our property and I have 2 great units within 20 minutes of me, where I'm secluded. So that point doesn't work :-)

    Do beards provide camo?

A beard, lol depending on color will provide camo. But as has been said before.. Hair carries lots of scent. Either way, I'd say keep it because beards are awesome!!

    Another noob with questions

Agreed, its a decent rifle and it can definitely get the job done, but my biggest issue is with the bolt. There seems to be a lot of slop. If I pull the bolt back to load a second round, the bolt seems to stick or jam when im pushing it forward again. Sometimes I have to jiggle it a bit to chamber the round. If I need to place a second shot in a hurry this can be an issue. I'm not sure, but maybe its worse for me because I'm a lefty and I roll the rifle to its side when loading that second round. At this point I'm set on buying a new rifle. I just need to decide which one. Its not just cause your a lefty, hers does it too, hard bolt lift and hard closing. lol almost as bad as a warmed up mosin nagant! Ive heard complaint and have seen people post fixes but for us its gonna stay how it it. I think alot has to do with the amount of plastic on the gun and the lack of quality when built.

    Another noob with questions

my wifes 770 in .243 shoots great!! the bolt lift really sucks, the gun is cheap all around, but accuracy is good. she pops soda cans out to 350 yards with it. as far as scopes go, some people have great eyes and can see and shoot well out of cheap glass at any distance (like my dad) my self on the other hand have the worst eye sight ever and need better quality to compete. it all depends on you, as to how nice of gear you need.

    Spotter or 15's???

15's would be the better of the two, easier to look thru for long periods with a tripod. spotting scope is for using after youve found what you want to look at, but in more detail, antler size for instance.
  14. There's alot of good land in the 35's. I'm sure the base is better due to less traffic but you'll find some good areas down there.
  15. I figured it was a deleted comment or something, wasn't sure. My now has a drop away. I'm not an archery guru so what I have works for me. I used to archery hunt alot but the past few years I switched to copper, lead, and powder.
  16. I must of missed something?? I'm really not sure what their arguing about?

    unit one wolf

When they first introduced these "pure bread" Mexican grey wolves. I was working at the chevron station in morenci. The fish and wild life and g&f guys stopped to get gas before heading up the trail (caged wolves in the trucks) we commented that they look awefuly big to be mex grey wolves, they laughed and assured us the were. What we saw was timber wolf size and mean. I'm sure they could eat anything they want. I'm not saying they'll destroy elk/deer population but?????????????

    E-Scouting

That is why I get so irked. People that "eat and run" I shared a bunch of info on unit 27 with a member recently via P.M. and I was glad to help. I also shared a bunch of info recently about 27. I got a thanks in the end lol but that was it. its ok though i guess I wasnt expecting a cookie or anything but still.

    unit one wolf

We watched a heard of roughly 150 elk a few years ago on the New Mexico border with unit 1, we saw calves and cows running into the meadows limping as 2 wolves ran behind nipping their hind legs. A few of the cows in the heard turned around in what seemed to be rescue efforts. The wolves retreated and the injured limped off. Not sure if any died later on or were killed before we saw what happened. So yeah, they eat alot more than road kill.

    Home Window Replacement

Triple Payne systems. Great guys to deal with, they are big time hunters, do awesome work and can order just about any window you need. I worked with them for our home I'm building. I bought a house full of windows for around 60% savings! (Ordered for another home that never got picked up) they may have something similar that will fit your house? I also bought my doors from them at great prices. Family owned and great guys!

    Zeiss warranty turnaround time?

Thanks for the info. My focus knob is very has a grainy/sand feeling to it, the Zeiss emblem fell off of the focus knob and I have two black spots in the right side objective (on the inside I believe?) it maybe warranty or not, not sure? I never sent in the warranty card so I hoping I can call and still have them fixed. Btw, they are 10x56 victory FL.
