    I drew a tag!!!!

Just a bad joke, all the new folks lately asking for "not you honey hole" or "not your secret spot" for a specific unit. No harm intended.

    Would you!?!?

I agree with pine donkey, I've seen some nice deer close to the house, if there's a hunt and you live far enough from most of the mass I'd say take you shot. I know the deer we've had here have been killed by other hunters. Personally I see no problem with it as long as your mind set is that SE one else can legally shoot them close to home.

what does mule deer taste like?

It does depend on edibles. I've never had a bad one (as long as the meat was cared for properly) every one I've ever had has been from the 4500-7500 elevation if it matters? I've eaten coues and muley from the same hillside in unit 27 and I'll be damned if the both tasted.... Well, like deer meat! If its cooked right and prepared right it tasted good no matter what the "meat product" you use is. I've fed all kinds of meat to people who had no idea what they just ate and were drooling with stains on their shirts before I told them its... Muley, coues, rabbit, lion, etc.

Haha, 25-06 your an old man, I'll vouche for that!! But you got schooled by an old man with knowledge!!!! So my question still stands, where's my dang loyalty point lol? I've never needed it but would be nice to have if I did.

    Loyalty point

I've put in for deer every year for close to 20 yrs now and it doesn't show a loyalty point, just the hunter Ed point. Next to elk it shows a loyalty and hunter Ed point but I've never been drawn for elk and I draw deer every year.

    Loyalty point

Is that 5 years without being drawn or just 5 years? And if you only buy bonus points for 5 years do you get a loyalty point?

    Mt lion meat?

in a hot wok with oil, add cubed meat, bell pepper, onion and whatever seasoning you like. Cook medium or medium rare, a hind quarter in foil and wet burlap cooked in a pit for a few about 6 hours will make tacos BBQ meat burros or whatever you want.

    Mt lion meat?

I've eatin lion, it's sweet and very tasty!! I've eatin coyote stew/green chili. I kill jack rabbit and cotton tail year around around the house and make burger and stew meat. I've never shot a skunk or a coati but I'd pry try it. I don't eat it cause I have to, I eat it because I'm a cheap sun bit(h and enjoy natures bounties. If push ever comes to shove in this country I'll be used to eating whatever protein is available and not have to think twice.

    Zimmerman Verdict

It's funny because he is only partly "white" he's Hispanic!! Puerto Rican or Mexican or something? I don't see it as a hate crime, a racial crime, or a crime at all. From the evidence I hear (I watched most of the trial coverage) I see it as a self defense matter. He was attacked by a wana be thug and defended himself. No one wants to see a guy killed or be the one killing but if they wanna play the hard butt thug game they gotta pay the consequences. Martin paid with his life. I'm happy that this case went the way it did, I'm sad that he will probably end up paying the rest of his life in civil court. The laws in America are good at times but it seems they are made for criminals at other times.

    Feral Hogs in New Mexico

I guess if we're throwing our hats in the ring, I wanna go too lol. I know some folks in Virden next to Duncan. Not sure where in NM your going?
  17. I'm not sure how used to shooting your boy is? I was 4 when my dad got me an ithica single shot lever action 22. I had that and BB guns as well as a 4 10 shotgun when I was 6 or 7. He bought me a savage 110d 270 when I was 9 (from a guy everyone called "shotgun" believe it or not) it was open sights cause I wasn't allowed to use a scope til I could buy it myself. I thank my dad for that, it taught me to shoot wether I knew it or not. I guess the whole point to my rambling.... I never had a youth stock/barrel/gun/scope. I shot full size and learned how to get used to it. I hunted and killed many criters with full size guns as a kid.

Unit 1 or 27? Mule Deer

I'm sure were both hated equally haha!!! I remember as a kid we'd always draw the any antler 27/28 tag. In December if I remember correctly? It has changed since then. 27 has turned into a mini kaibab as far as popularity. Good luck drawing your tag, if you get it let me know, I'll show you some places.

Unit 1 or 27? Mule Deer

Haha, if a member of this sight, in good standing needs help ill share a few places, I'm sure others will to. I'm not one of those "my spot" type of guys but again I don't want everybody and their brother knowing.

I can't argue with that, but until enough folks are willing to take a chance and possibly "waste a vote" that's what we'll have. It'll take a few election cycles to nominate a true, stand up candidate

Primaries is what I was referring to. The vote split would be so drastic I believe a lack luster republican nominee would be nominated by default. If he ran as a third party somehow in the main election he'd split the republican vote and cause a democrat to win.

    Advice for fixing swamp cooler

My wife and I live in an 800 sq ft guest house while I'm trying to finish building our main home. 2400 sq ft I bought a 300 dollar window unit A/C unit, built it into the wall and it works great!! I don't know much about home a/c but I'd go the a/c route if its in the budget. A few window units or a whole house unit is cheaper in the long run than an old swampy. We don't run it often but when we do its nice lol.

I don't see why not, wrestlers, comedians, "johns", and madams have and are running for office. Some have won races. Uncle Ted could do the same but it makes me wonder..... Would he be a vote wasted?? Even though he'd pry be better than most we have now I think he'd split the republican vote allowing a democrat to win.

Unit 1 or 27? Mule Deer

I'm with you, I see lots of deer in in 27 and 28, I also grew up there. There are smaller numbers but if you know where to go its very good.

    For My Dog

Im very sorry for your loss, dogs are like children and i respect them more so than i do most people. A few years back I lost my Australian Shepard guy. He was also 15. I remember the first week we got him my dad figured we'd see how he was around guns and hunting and such (he was 6ish months old and a stray when we picked him up) well on our way out dove hunting, guy decided to sit up on the tool box in the back of the truck. Around a corner we went.... He slid off and caught "his boys" on the edge of the tool box and tore them right off!!!! It hurts to talk about. We stopped and put him in the front seat of the truck and off we went hunting, once we got to the pond we noticed he was missin something between his legs. We layed him on all the soft gun cases and off to the feed store (where the vet was) well, 1800 bucks later we had a neauterd pure bread Australian Shepard haha. He began to go blind and deaf a year before he passed but acted like a happy puppy til the night he died.
