Trouble Bore Sighting

Have you tried just shooting it and seeing where you at on paper? Could be an issue with the bore sighter. -
Trouble Bore Sighting

Are your weaver bases # 46 and # 47? Some winchesters use different sized bases front and rear. -
If a person is pulled over for whatever reason, by whatever agency and has weapons on the vehicle, which the person declares at the time if the stop. Does the officer have a legal right to run a serial # of said weapon? I was pulled over for going 40 in a 35 mph zone, my insurance/reg. is where I keep my pistol. I told the officer I have a pistol and asked if it was ok if I put it on the dash while I got the paper work. He was ok with it, so I did, found my info and he said he had to run the # for my gun. I tried to talk him out of it for a few minutes but finally gave in (its legal, nothing to hide) I understand they are doing their jobs and I support that but, is it legal to run a serial #? If it is great, if not great too. Just wondering. I'd rather not have any one know what I have. Follow up, what happens to the info when they run it? Is that gun tied to me? Is it only checked for being stolen/used in a crime? I'd like to hear any LEO oppinion

I'm loading for a 243 Winchester, have loaded a lot before but never was concerned with case weight. I range from 158-162 grains, the majority being 161 and 160. I know to load the weight class together but how much difference would it make putting them together or let's say, a 162 grain case with a 160? Enough to notice, without a lead sled?

Unit 27 is CLOSED
muledeerarea33? replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
They do have a lot of time off in morenci, usually they'll work a month worth of hour in about 2 and a half or 3 weeks. Hard work but alot if time off to hunt, gotta love it! -
So I guess it comes down to Payin a ticket or protecting my rights, I would like to say my rights always come first but in the case at hand, I guess it comes down to how much time I have and if my paycheck is big enough to pay the ticket,

6Anut, So your saying if I don't comply to the check, they will seize my weapon and try to get a court order? And if I comply, my rights are violated but I'm going thru alot less hassle?

What are the some they can't? It wasn't a big prolbem, the Leo was a good guy as I was, I know they have a job to do and don't know me from Adam. Thanks for the answers.

I guess 5mph over is speeding, wont argue there. I had a shooting bench in the bed of my truck, NRA targets in plain sight and pry 5 ammo boxes of various calibers in plain sight. I'm 29, drive a stock Tacoma 4x4 and had just left work. Like I said, I can't argue withe going 40mph in a 35 mph zone but really? I won't say I was harassed by any means, my question was is it legal to check a serisl# regardless of what my original crime was. I didn't get a ticket by the way and the cop was very cool with me, this isn't an enforcement complaint at all, it's a legal question.
-
I didn't think it was legal. I was pulled over last year by highway patrol for "following too closely" same situation except that time I refused to give my weapon, a commanding officer was called to the scene and said I didn't have to turn over my gun for a check. I wasn't sure if every agency was the same?

Eating rabbits?
muledeerarea33? replied to POB's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I'm lucky I live where I can hunt from my back/front/side yards. I'll let you know if I get sick after eating this jack. I ate his brother 2 days ago. -
Penalty for Accidental Spike Shooting?
muledeerarea33? replied to rossislider's topic in Elk Hunting
I would imagine it depends on how big the "spikes" are? The tag is labeled cow elk or is it labeled antlerless? If it is labeled antlerless what's the g&f definition of an antler. -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've had this gun less than a month, left to me by an uncle who passed. I might use it for my mulie hunt just to honor his memory. If I do I'm loading partitions or vld's probably. Might stick with what I'm already using. I don't really have an intended purpose for this particular rifle other than making it shoot the best it can and having a good memory. -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Also, at 42 grains I had a max velocity difference of 36 fps. What would you guys consider acceptable? -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm not a bench rest competition guy, justly me shooting. I'm not worried about 1 hole groups but do love accuracy. I loaded this morning and just got done shooting, 42 grains imr4350 100 grain Sierra btsp. Weighed all components but used 2 brass of a different weight, 3 rounds touching at a hundred, the two with different case weights were off the rest of the group around 1/4 inch one left and one left low. Maybe I pulled those shots maybe its the weight difference? Like I've said before, I don't know? Lol that's the reason of the topic I started. And I'm certainly not gonna argue over a quarter inch, I just find it intriguing. -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Lol I got curious one day and found some cci's to be quite a bit different in weight. Not sure if it matters? But I figure if I'm gonna load 40 or so rounds for practice before a hunt and use during a hunt I might as well spend a little extra time for perfection, never know if its a chance of a lifetime or not. As far as the solvent and brake clean goes, I get to do that part at work for free and takes no time at all for a slightly cleaner case. Again, not sure if it helps? -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
For case prep I always clean in media, clean the pockets and flash holes and then in a solvent tank, clean with brake cleaner, let dry, size and trim if they need trimming and then weigh them. I only do that whole process on hunting and target loads, not for pistol or bulk loading. I weigh every charge and every bullet and even primers although the federal match primers are usually right on. I try to be close in weight when it's all said and done, just wondering how much the case weight itself has to do with accuracy -
Case weight??
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm getting around 1/2 in at a hundred, 5 round groups, I haven't had a prolbem with 223 30-06 7mm or 223 wssm but all this Winchester 243 brass is different -
Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )
muledeerarea33? replied to twigsnapper's topic in The Campfire
The very reason I first learned about this web site many years ago, I was archery deer hunting in 33, just moved to the big city of Tucson from a town of 1500 people. I was sittin a tank and had deer comin in slow about 5-6 hundred yards away and all of a sudden... BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! And I was gettin pelted with shotgun bb's I was so mad I found the truck and the guy doin the shooting, and saw a big ole couesehitetail.com sticker on the window lol, I came on the site and raised heck, in the end the man doin the shooting and myself had words then became very good friends and huntin buddies. Won't mention names but terry knows who he is lol -
Hi there, haven't posted in some time, lotta stuff has changed on this website since I first joined, I've posted similar to this before but... Who else wears glasses, has astigmatism, eyes gettin worse (I'm only 29!!) but worse. I started with 400 dollar leuspolds, currently I own Zeiss 10 56 victory FL. Great glass but my eyes seem to be picky with them, I've I've looked thru Swarovski 15 56 before but not long enough to tell if it'll work. Just wondering if there don't more like me out there who's eyes are not picky than there pocket book or if anyone might wanna glass with me for a day so's I can pick what's right for my f&$k'd eye balls? Just frustrated since the only time I have to go is after a 12 hour day and two weekends a month. My hunts 3 weeks away. I've seen deer don't get me wrong I just want to find binos that fit me.
-
I may have to try those, I've never worn contacts, with my job and lifestyle I figure I'd lose or scratch them too much, I go thru atleast 2 pairs of glasses a year. And the contacts for my eye balls are like 300 bucks a pair.
-
I've tried without my glasses on, not very clear but maybe I'm not giving it enough time? It's hard to go from four eyes to two and back agsin

I'm in the benson area in case it matters

I don't want to be a stickler here but, we aren't in Vail. Mescal is Mescal, not Vail.
