  1. Heroes Rising Outdoors / Hunts for Heroes has its basis in the Arizona elk Society (which as the name states, isn't deer oriented). That said, we've recently been donated some individual Coues tags for a few Arizona units and could use some help for hunts that start Friday, Oct. 25. Those hunt units include: 22 / 30A / 30B / 32 / 36A.

Who will be out hunting in one of these units on the Oct. 25 deer hunt and would welcome an Arizona veteran into your deer camp? I'd be glad to chat with you about what that would entail --- mainly helping get a vet out and away from his/her everyday routine, helping that individual reconnect with their inner self in a non-threatening environment. The camaraderie we all enjoy while hunting has often been eliminated from the veteran now that they're back from deployment and back in society. Showing them what hunting in Arizona is all about helps open their eyes to new possibilities!

Our HRO hunts aren't focused on hunting the largest animals on the mountain, rather offer a healing experience via the hunt to veterans who've given a LOT while serving their country. There are members here on the CWT forums who can vouch for how rewarding this can be, both for the volunteer as well as the veteran.

If this reach-out hits home with you, please, don't hesitate to give me a call: (480)760-3868 --- time is of the essence. You'll be making a real difference in a veteran's life!

Thanks from all of us at Heroes Rising Outdoors,

    --- Tom Wagner

  3. I have a crossbow, accessories, and target I need to get to a disabled vet in Tucson this week for an upcoming elk hunt next month. The lady vet needs time to get acquainted with it pre-hunt (we have someone down there lined up to help her do just that).

Give me a call if you're making the trip and can help with the transport: (480)760-3868 ...

    Thanks!

  4. Hey All:

Getting slammed right now with Heroes Rising Outdoors responsibilities. Anyone available the next 7-10 days to stop by my house in N. Gilbert to repack wheel bearings on open utility trailer I use in the field? It's been a couple years since last done and I'd feel better not having to worry about them this season.

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks everyone for the support! Matt and I just talked about his brother's tag and he'll be donating it to Heroes Rising Outdoors / Hunts for Heroes.

BTW, we'll be shifting our name over to Heroes Rising Outdoors as we begin to expand our outreach beyond just hunting to the veteran community here in Arizona. Same program getting wounded veterans out hunting via donated tags.

And we always welcome anyone who wants to give back in a volunteer capacity on our hunts! Just contact me: (480)760-3868 ...

    Good hunting this fall!

  6. Hey All:

We placed Hunts for Heroes brochures in 3 Yuma locations a while back. Now need to refill the acrylic brochure holders with our updated materials.

Any CWTer have plans to make the trip to Yuma soon who wouldn't mind helping out on a simple task?

I leave tomorrow to help on some youth turkey hunts --- best to text or call me: (480)760-3868 ...

    Much appreciated!

    --- Tom
