This is why the RNC lost
ruffcountry replied to jamaro's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
There is so much wrong here that I dont know where to start , but I guess for #1 I'll ask , whats wrong with it ? It being satire in question . #2 RNC doesnt get any votes , canidates get votes and when RNC nominates one that is able to articulate commonsense conservative viewpoints then that canidate will win with American votes . #3 The voting record of the Dems : the Civil Rights Act was passed by 80% Reps and 60% dems , Robert Byrd and Al Gore ,sr were among the many dems opposed . The Repulican party was founded in opposition to slavery . #4 Southern party with southern views : what does that mean ? Is there something wrong with being southern ? Who is trying to divide who ? #5 cnn is extremely left leaning #6The RNC didnt make this cd and they arent standing by it , it is not a plank in their platform . I find the song hilarious , have you listened to it ? #7 Your guy won , so again I ask who is stirring things up and trying to divide here ? #8 Bush went to washington as a uniter with a new tone , ask him how that went . -

HEY , I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK !!!! -
I shot two deer this year with my new rifle a mod 7oo in 7 rem mag . The first was my Nov Coues and the second was a Dec Oklahoma buck . I used Hornady Heavy Mag 139 gr SST on both . I have not used this caliber or bullet before . Even though it didnt exit , I did not recover the bullet from my Coues buck . It kind of made a mess of things and I didnt spend much time looking for it . I did recover one of the bullets from a 165 lb whitetail that I shot in western Oklahoma . I badly under estimated the distance (it was probaly 440+) and first shot broke the bucks front leg , the follow up shot made from about 100 yards hit him in the back of his neck and I found it near the back of his jaw .This bullet traveled approximately 12 inches through this large bucks neck into the back jaw region . As you can see there is not much left of this bullet . Although , I feel these bullets transfer incredible shock and energy and are fine for deer sized game , I dont think they would my first choice for elk . The SST is an interlock bullet , the Heavy Mags are also available in 139 gr interbond . I have not tried the interbond but it would be interesting to compare recovered bullets . Additionally , Hornady is introducing the GMX in 139 grain too , I dont know if it will be available in the Heavy Mag , but I hope it will be. I just thought some might be interested in these pics of my bullet and what I thought of their performance . Again I think they are great for deer but wouldn't recommend them for larger game like elk because penetration in both cases was only about 12 inches . Last year my 300 wby drove 150 gr over two feet through my Coues buck .

What caliber were you using for your kills ? Did the bullet exit ? Ive had good results with Hornady and I plan to keep using them . The large entry wound really doesnt bother me much , my 300 wby with 150 and 165 grain bullets has always done that . I use Weatherby loads in my weatherby .

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Well then I just have to say right back to you .

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 30-378 , might could get that with a pet load and the bergers in 300 rum , course it all depends on where your zero is before you give it another 15 minutes .

MI man fined and revoked for killing elk too close to homes

Looks like this case may bt best argument for "Make your first shot Count ". In many jurisdictions you can not follow wounded game onto private property without permission . I do think that the fact that the bull was wounded before they went on private property is an extenuatimg circumstance and that g&f and the courts were a little heavy handed . -

A friend invited me to hunt on his farm land in western Oklahoma if I would take his 9 year old son along with me . The boy has taken a interest in the outdoors and my friend is not much of an outdoorsman . I scouted a likely looking spot behind his house , crp land with tall grass and in the middle a nice grove of trees and brush . I noticed several trails coming from the trees through the grass to the farm land where winter wheat was now growing and corn and soybean had been harvested earlier in the fall . We set up on the edge of the field just inside the tall grass in the late afternoon and waited . A cold wind blew in our faces as we scanned the grass , watching for deer to come toward the field . We were on a kind of a terrace between the field and the crp land and had a good view across large area of grass up to the brush and trees . The sun slipped below the horizon , 30 minutes left , it was that magical time of day as the wind eased and owls back in the trees began to hoot . Suddenly , there he was on the far side of the grass , looking like a giant as he angled our way . I looked him over through my binoculars ,not much antler but a whole lotta buckskin . I set up my rifle on the bipods and got prone . I thought he was getting close enough for a shot and I was solid . He stopped broadside , the crosshairs were in the middle of his shoulder , the gun boomed and I seen him react through the scope , it looked like a hit . He went immediately out of sight behind a terrace on his end of the field . I watched through my scope and saw no sign of movement . My hunting partner asked " Did you get him ? " . I thought that I had and I replied " Lets go see " . We began walkin toward the spot where he had last stood and about halfway there it began to occur to me that maybe he was farther than I realized when I took the shot . As we neared the spot where I expected to find him , instead I seen him limping slowly on the other side of a narrow but thick line of trees and brush . He hadnt seen us but as I rushed to find a gap through the trees to shoot through he did see us and began to run . I knew he wanted to get back to the trees he came out of earlier before the shot and lucky for us , we were between him and them . He came running out into the crp field headed for the woods where he would become extremely hard to catch up with , I took a shot offhand with him running , hurriedly I bolted in another and as he closed on the trees I fired again . I didnt see him anymore , I walked over and there he lay . I had broken his front leg with my first shot and my third and last had hit him in the back of the neck . At the check station he weighed 165 lbs field dressed. Maybe because of his large size I had misjudged the range and my first shot hit approximately 12 inches below my point of aim . He must have been about a quarter mile away . I am just glad he didnt escape wounded . My Oklahoma hunting partner . Next year he will be elgible to buy tag , too . My first Oklahoma buck .

I can tell just by looking at the terrain that most of 'em come from southeastern AZ , northern Mex , or southwest New Mex

Of course is swollen!! got hit by a 300 Ultra Magnum!! everything is swollen including the shooters shoulder! He probably still has a headache and trying to remember what happened after he woke up? Just kidding....................Ernesto C Ruffcountry: Thank you for the compliment. Yeah...his neck is(I mean was) a little sore. I guess I'll just say I was trying to save the backstraps Ernesto: Yeah the ole Ultramag did its job. Shoulder is not a sore as my ears. With the muzzlebreak it is pretty rediculously loud - I seem to have forgotten how loud it is. I used to think it was silly to see guys wear ear protection when hunting - but I will from now on - especially with the ultramag. The ears are still ringing a bit Thanks Greg HUUHHH?

Hehehehe that was an experiment yes that's rhinocoat!! I was goint to put it all over the stock but it was/is way to shiny. What Im goint to do know is to camouflage the rest of the stock. Very, very accurate rifle, any one can hit a quarter at a 100 meters with the "chupacabra buster" .......well.....................any one except Casey Ernesto C It aint near as shiny as that scope .

Thats a nice buck . You have much to be proud of . Congratulations . Is his neck a little swollen or is that just the way he looks in the picture ?
