  1. A few folks have asked about my Swaro binos for sale... well, I finally found the box (I recently moved and have stuff all over the house and garage).

The serial number is L800696813. That means that they were manufactured in 2010. The Swarovski 8x32 EL was Swaro's top of the line small bino until this year when they released the 8x32 Swarovision with a retail of $2000+. When I compared the non-swarovision to swarovision in 8x32, I could not tell the difference. I did the same with the higher power 10x42 and thought that I could see a better color difference. I knew that I was holding a $2500 bino and that might have helped influence my thinking that they were better.

  2. A buddy sent me a few pix from my old hunting area in southern NY. The two bucks in the pix are pretty darn nice for that area. Squint to see the big guy in the back. I have one of his sheds from last year. I tried for three years to get him. He is good. He always sent his brothers my way to keep me distracted.

  3. For sale:

Eberlestock Phantom G3M pack, NIB, dry earth color, $330.

Swarovski 8x32 EL binoculars, Swarobright, nearly new... outside on the deck twice, $1200.

Thompson Center Triumph Bone Collector Black Powder .50cal Weather guard, camo, NIB, $500 or $730 with the mounted Omega 3-9x40.

New Nikon Omega scope 3-9x40 BDC300 camo (currently mounted on the Triumph), $230.

Nikon Omega camo scope 1.65-5x36 BDC250, NIB, $210.

2011 Strother SX-1 compound bow, 60-70lb, 29in DL, RH, camo, New. The SX-1 29in DL is slightly different than my 29in Hoyt Alpha Burner. $525.

Cabela's Alaskan Guide 20-60x70 Spotting Scope with neoprene cover. I dropped it on day one back in 2004 (I think) and slightly dented the objective end. I was certainly not happy. Since then, it has performed well. It is quality built with Japanese glass. $200.

    I would consider a trade or sorts if you have a nice S&W M&P 15-22 PC or a dual-sport ~250cc motorcycle.

  4. FS Eberlestock Phantom sniper pack backpack. Its dry earth color. Brand new. The Phantom scabbard fits a rifle with big optics.

I finally bought a Phantom after waiting a month for the one that I had on backorder. A week later, my backordered Phantom arrived. And now one is up for sale. I am in Sierra Vista or Ft. Huachuca. I will ship it if you cover the cost.

From Eberlestock... The Phantom pack is a mid-sized pack that is our own original design. It offers the ability to remove the bag and straps from the patented Backscabbard, which can then be combined with the top-cover to make a nice drag bag. The Phantom is a front-loader, with two rings of various-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, MOLLE racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers. It will carry two 3-liter hydration kits, mounted in side pockets, and/or two 2-liter bladders in sleeves between the side pockets and the main pack. Includes the pack and scabbard combination, removable butt-cover, and pull-out G1RC rain cover.

  5. For deer I use custom blended sugar blocks I make myself. The deer love them, I had a group of bucks stand and fight over it and lick it for over 4 hours. Pigs, squirrels, coatis and ringtails are the other animals Ive gotten on my trail cams coming into my sugar blocks.

Do you mind sharing your recipe? Thanks.

  6. Hello,

I am an Army guy moving to the Ft. Huachuca area this summer. My wife and I are headed out next week to look for a place to live south of Sierra Vista. I would to buy a 4x4 pickup to use during our house-hunting trip and then to use during our time in AZ. I would like to pay about $5-6K. I would like a full-size bed, extended-cab of some sort and AC would be great.

We arrive in Phoenix Tuesday, 29 May and plan to stay at my uncle's house for the day prior to driving down to Sierra Vista.

If you know of a truck for sale or have a friend in the business, ideally in Phoenix, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  8. I have been shooting my dad's sporterized swedish mauser 6.5x55 since I was old enough to shoot, about 8yrs old. He killed plenty of deer, coyotes, groundhogs and many a targets. I love it and it performs as my go-to gun. Liking the cartrigde, I put together a 6.5x55 TC Encore with a 20" 1:8 fluted heavy Shilen barrel. It is nice. I also have a TC 15" 6.5x55 barrel justin case I want to pack it in. All seem to shoot 120gr, 139gr or 156gr quite well. When I make mre time, I will figure out which barrel likes what rounds the best. I am not sure why the 6.5x55 is not more poplular in the US. Good BC. Low recoil. What is not to like?
