First off, I'm a novice or less when it comes to reloading or accuracy, so I'm just the messenger here, reporting the results that I got. Target was 100 yds out. When I first shot my accurized .270 WSM Winchester, I knew it was a lot different/better. My break-in was to shoot 15 rds of factory ammo, cooling and cleaning the barrel after every 5 rds. Then shoot 4 different reloads, cooling/cleaning the barrel after 5 rds. The 1st round being a fouling round, plus 4 more for each powder type. All reloads carried a 130 gr Nozzler accubond bullet. The first 5 reloads had 63 gr of RL22. The fouling shot is the right one. The next 5 rds had 64 gr of RL 19. The fouling shot is on the upper right. The next 5 rds had 64 gr of IMR 7828. The fouling shot is-you guessed it-the upper right one. The last 5 rds had 61 gr of IMR 4350. Yep, the fouling round was high right. So the main thing I was sure of after all that was, MAN my shoulder hurts! Plus I was ready to go home, have a beer and watch the Cardinals game. As far as which reloads to go with, I think the IMR 7828 has the best grouping. After I get more reloads, I'll have to go out and do the final sight in. This rifle is the one I'll use on my Mexico coues hunt after Christmas. Good luck to all you late hunt tag holders!

I'm going to have some loaded per your recommendation MULEPACKHUNTER. I nailed my Mexico buck fine (new avitar) but still want improvement on longer shots. Thanks, Tommy -

Phoenix Varmint Callers Inc is hosting the 9th Annual George Knox Memorial Boot Camp this weekend, Aug 7th,8th and 9th. The late George Knox was a PVCI member and it was his vision to have a in-the-field predator hunting seminar and hunt, to give hands-on instruction to beginners on how to hunt these critters. The camp is also sponsered by Youth Outdoors Unlimited (Y.O.U.), who's crew will be providing food and folks to set up camp and feed all in attendance. Other camp sponsors are Valley Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Arizona Game and Fish and Arizona Elk Society, among others. If you are wanting to learn how to predator hunt or have kids that are just getting into hunting, this is a perfect opportunity to learn these skills from expert hunters in a comfortable setting. Lots of nice, knowledgeable people to seek info from. Well, there's way too much other info to print here, so please see the details on the camp at www.pvci.org home page. You'll find the camp location, map and registration info there. REGISTRATION REQUIRED! They need to know how many folks to expect. Remember it's totally FREE, plus there is a drawing for a custom made knife to be raffled off to 1 lucky camp staff member: mentor or camp help. Free raffles for the kids too. Y.O.U usually raffles off a gun too, tickets purchased at camp. MENTORS NEEDED! We desperately need help in the mentor dept. It's rewarding to teach kids/or adult beginners be a successful predator hunter. Come up to the cool country, enjoy the free food, attend all the seminar instruction sessions and mentor someone that is eager to learn to hunt. Everyone knows we need more hunter recruitment, so here's a great opportunity to get involved. Thank you, Tommy.

Cool that you and your son are going! Wished I could, but made reservations for a resort with the misses a while back. I'll miss meeting you, you helped me on a location for my first New Mexico deer hunt.Good luck and have fun, Tommy -

Sounds like a good trip, except for the tent issues. There was a Kodiak tent for sale on here this last week. I have the early muzzy mule deer hunt in 23 this year. Maybe we'll run into each other on the hunt?

That's a cool idea! Good job making her smile.
