Dave, Thought I would throw a few of those riggin picture's up for ya. I spent alot of time trying to cure another sickness besides hunting. I went to college on a rodeo scholarship and rodeod pro for awhile. Its a hard life and I could'nt keep from breaking arm's and leg's. The saddle bronc riding picture that's are ready up made it to the cover of the prorodeo sports new when I was a rookie. I guess it was my 15 min of fame.

Once a couple of buddies were hunting coues. After a couple of hard days of hunting they were setting around the fire talking when the first guy says I'm headed for bed. The second guy says he going to stay up and BS a little more with a couple of other guys. The second guy waits for the first to get to sleep then heads in and resets the alarm clock for 30min later. After the alarm goes off the first guys get up and starts getting dressed and telling the second guy he had better get up and get going or they were going to be late to get up the mountain. The second guys lets him get his boots tied then tells him he might want to look at the clock.

Josh, That takes a lot of dedication and persistance to find a coues set. Heck it's hard enough to find a single.

I been talking with a lady from G&F that helps handle the draw. The G&F lost my refund money from 2005. I spoke with her about a week and half ago she said she would help track my money down for me after the draw but she was just to busy right now. I got a call from her on Fri it sounds like to me we should know something around the 21st. Keep your fingers crossed.

Since we are getting close to knowing what we all are hopefully going to be hunting this year. And since it been 10 years since I've had a elk tag. And I've only been applying for archery only hunts. I was wondering how many of you would be willing to set out for a couple of years. This would let the max point holders draw and keep moving people through the system. Instead of people just waiting and waiting. I know they use to do this before. But it was before my time and I would like to see them bring it back. What do you guys think. From my math there are around 22000 elk tags General- Archery- MZL Loader. I would be willing to set out for 2-3 years after I had a elk tag. This might help you to get a tag every 5-6 instead of 10-12. I doubt azgfd would consider it because of the money they would lose. Desrtsheep

Jim, I've hunted the res a few times. You are right they use to let you do both hunt's.There was such a big demand for tags that a few guys complained that other guys were getting two deer per year. But was does it matter to the res they are selling them first come first served so they make their money no matter what. It was about 2002-2003 they said you could only harvest was animal per calender year. Did your buddy kill a deer this past Jan. Do you mind me asking how much their getting for the Nov tags now.

There have been some really good reply's. I just wish we could make a few of them happen. I like the idea of mutiplying your points like Nevada does. Your chances would incease a ton when you would start to get up there with your points. Because the bonus point system they have now is bogus. Or do as desertbull suggested and you would have to choose between what you would want to hunt. I just know something has to change. Desertsheep

I would'nt set out of the draw willingly either. What I am saying is have AZGFD set it up on their computer so if you drew in 2006 you couldnt put in till 08-09. But still be able to by bonus points in those years you are out. We've all heard of the guy or maybe even been the guy to draw back to back Bull elk tags. If a guy had to set out this would'nt happen and let other people draw and then make them set out. This way I think it would help to draw a tag a little more often. Desertsheep

I'm not just talking about max point holders. I think all 22000 people that draw elk tags this year should have to wait before reapplying. The first year it would elimante 22000 and the next year we would be at 44000. I didnt have the time to see how many applicant there are. But I know it would make chances alot better if we didnt have to fight 44000 more people. And you right about the Antelope also. I drew my sheep tag with 4 point and have never had a goat tag in the state. Desertsheep

Mine is going to be my Dall sheep hunt, Booked for 07. We were actually going to go this year but had to postpone. It really gets in to your blood after you have taken one sheep. I would like to complete my grand slam.

I would second wetmule's reply. I've had the bullpack for 6-7 years. It's the best & most comfortable pack out there. There are the long pocket's on the side for a tripod and spotter.Then there two pockets on the outside in the middle. I put my 15x56's in the top and the rest of my stuff like knife's, gps,misc in the bottom. Then you still have the the middle of the bag to a folding chair,jacket ,lunch. I've boned out a whole coues deer and packed it out with mine. I used mine no less than 65 days this year. Hands down the best. desertsheep

Here are a few that I have been able to harvest over the years. The first is my desert that gross scores 170 4/8 net 169 2/8. Next is my full mount lion. The rest are my coues, smallest one 98" largest 118 6/8

That would have to be some kind of special Antelope being how he said it was a buck

Hey 80, You did see that buck in western optics. My buddy took a buck that scored 103 also.

I have one rifle that I use for everything it's a custom built 300 RUM on a remington action. Topped off with a 6.5x20x50 leupold scope. I shoot hand loaded 165 nosler BT. I have used a bull pack for the last 7 years no need to try anything else. I pack 10x42 swaro on my neck and carry 15x56 in my pack along with a 20x60x65 swaro spotting scope. They mount up a great on carbon one tripod with a Jim White head. I usally pack a video camera also. I use one of those stadium type chair's for glassing that I found at the warehouse along with all the other stuff a guy needs on a hunt.

Great idea Jim. I actually have two it's really hard for me to pick which one is better. The first is my desertsheep that makes B&C. The second is of course a coues that gross scores 118 6/8 and picture's dont do this buck jusctice. Hope you all like.

I agree it's alot money for 07. But if hunting is what you like then you will find away to come up with the money. Atleast we are going to know for a whole year what the price is going to be. I am a average guy also with 3 boy's starting hunt. On one hand I wish they would make you come up with the whole amount. That would keep some of the anti's & people out of the drawing that does'nt take is serious. On the other hand it's alot of money to come up with. desertsheep
