I love Rice too--but the Socialist party, at their convention in Denver and in their ad campaign have been hammering home the Bush/McCain connection and naming Condi would have made that argument. She isn't interested anyway--would rather be the NFL commish. But she would make a great VP and Pres too! I have a feeling that McCain is going to be a 1 termer and that sets up a Hillary-Sarah duel in 2012--goes from a dog fight to a cat fight. I know--he has to get elected 1st--no easy task. McCain needs to check with other people's schedule before he does these things. Apparently her parents were going to go Caribou hunting this AM and it got interrupted by a call from the lower 48 to tune in the TV and learn that their daughter was being chosen as his veep. John has to get his priorities straight. 1st things 1st!!!!

Bill Kristol brought her name up at the end of June on an FNC show. I did a fair amount of research on her then and concluded that she would be an excellant choice, IMHO. Pro life, pro gun, pro drilling--small town values. She is welcome around my campfire anytime. I thought she had been lost in the shuffle. I am ecstatic with the choice myself. I think she is a better shot than Cheney too!!

Besides blowing it up! A friend of mine bought a muzzleloader from a guy and wanted to superclean it. He couldn't get the breech plug out so he put it in a vice and took a torch to it to heat it up--BANG Just missed a $700 fence charger.

My thoughts go back and forth on this. They keep coming back to the fact that we are our own 1st line of defense. But--what would happen if an unruly student or students got your gun away from you?? I was on a board of education for about 15 yrs and I'm glad it never came up--there would have to be a ton of research and input from parents, teachers, student representatives, law enforcement and anybody else you could think of. It would have been a time of a lot of soul searching and lost sleep. You are dealing with a decision that could,God forbid, be a life or death situation. It could be good and bad at the same time!!!

I'd love to see Romney--but .270 is right on--a lot of people just don't know a much about Mormanism--it is a fear of the unknown. The Jeff mess doesn't help. Personally, I like Palin--the lady Gov of AK. Pawlenty is a good choice also, but Mc has to be careful of having too much of a "white bread" ticket--so that would really eliminate Charlie crist. Bobby Jindal is too young--needs more experience--but he is dynamite IMHO. Also--being a Senator--it would help to have someone experienced in running a Gov't

I am thinking of putting a Red Dot on my traditional CVA sidelock. Most everything today says they fit a Weaver Rail Mount. The only scope mounts listed for my rifle are 61A--and they are a 2 piece mount. Does anybody know it it will work? Or will I have to drill & tap? BOB

Thanx--I'm waiting for word from a gun shop on what to do now. I have the 61A Weaver mounts on it but the integrated Weaver Rail on the Red Dot is too narrow to fit on it.
