    Kaibab Lion Guides

Since I didnt draw any tags in the 5 states that I applied in, looking to do a mountain lion hunt in AZ. Can anybody recommend a good guide for lions in the Kaibab area.
  2. I have a Marlin 30-30 that needs the front sight replaced. Can someone recommend a good gunsmith.
  3. I hunted with Nichols Guiding Service this past May. Jared Nichols was my guide and after my buddy backed out of the hunt I decided to do a 2 bear hunt. On day 1 I shot a 420 lb black after a several hour chase with hounds. We started the chase after seeing the bear's pic on a trail cam set on a bait site. The next evening I shot a 507 lb chocolate bear over bait at last light. He missed the B&C by 2/8". You couldn't find a harder working outfitter than Nichols. I too considered Canada and Alaska but the number of bears on the WMA is simply amazing. No bugs, no airline travel and over the counter tags is simply a great deal. The biggest problem in hunting with Jared is trying not to pull the trigger on the first bear you see. He can literally have you looking at several bears each day. In addition, it is some of the most beautiful country in Arizona. While driving to the 1st bait site on day one we saw antelope, coues and mule deer, elk, and turkey. Jared is 100% opportunity on bears, whether rifle, handgun or archery.

    Info for 36-c Dec. tag????

I had this tag in Dec '03. I hunted Las Moras canyon because I just knew thats's where the 'big one' was. It's a 1 to 1.5 hour hike and there's an old abandoned water tank on the top (east side). I passed on 3 bucks in this area - but I know there's still a big one in there. A beautiful area to hunt - a few foreigners walking north and lots of helicopters flying over head. Also, it is tough to hunt the mesquite flats at the east base of the hills, but there are quite a few deer there. They might be avoiding the lions. Did I forget to mention I went home empty handed? Still one of my most memorable hunts. Enjoy!!!!

    Unit 36C

Got drawn for Unit 36C this year. Can anyone provide tips on which roads and or ranches allow good access. I called the AZGFD in Tucson and they said their website info was due to be updated, but didn't know when.
